In this paper, we consider two types of pricing option in financial markets using quasi Monte Carlo algorithm with variance reduction procedures. We evaluate Asian-style and European-style options pricing based on Black-Scholes model. Finally, some numerical results presented.

today, with the advanced statistical techniques and neural networks, predictive models of distribution have been rapidly developed in ecology. purpose of this research is to predict and map the distribution of tetranychus urticae koch (acari: tetranychidae) using mlp neural networks combined with genetic algorithm in surface of farm. population data of pest was obtained in 2016 by sampling in 1...

We consider a composite convex minimization problem associated with regularized empirical risk minimization, which often arises in machine learning. We propose two new stochastic gradient methods that are based on stochastic dual averaging method with variance reduction. Our methods generate a sparser solution than the existing methods because we do not need to take the average of the history o...

Over the past two decades, U.S. nuclear power plant regulation has increasingly depended on bestestimate plus uncertainty safety analyses. As a result of the shift to best-estimate analyses, the distribution of the output metric must be compared against a regulatory goal, rather than a single, conservative value. This comparison has historically been conducted using a 95% one-sided confidence i...

The authors discuss techniques for Monte Carlo (MC) cohort simulations that reduce the number of simulation replications required to achieve a given degree of precision for various output measures. Known as variance reduction techniques, they are often used in industrial engineering and operations research models, but they are seldom used in medical models. However, most MC cohort simulations a...

This article is the eighth in a series exploring the importance of research design, statistical analysis, and epidemiology in nutrition and dietetics research, and the second in a series focused on multivariate statistical analytical techniques. The purpose of this review is to examine the statistical technique, analysis of variance (ANOVA), from its simplest to multivariate applications. Many ...

APPLICATIONS OF STOCHASTIC SIMULATION IN TWO-STAGE MULTIPLE COMPARISONS WITH THE BEST PROBLEM AND TIME AVERAGE VARIANCE CONSTANT ESTIMATION by Dibyendu Chakrabarti In this dissertation, we study two problems. In the first part, we consider the two-stage methods for comparing alternatives using simulation. Suppose there are a finite number of alternatives to compare, with each alternative having...

We introduce a partial order, variance majorization, on R, which is analogous to the majorization order. A new class of monotonicity inequalities, based on variance majorization and analogous to Schur convexity, is developed.

Standard implementations of non-parametric classifiers have large computational requirements. Parzen classifiers use the distances of an unknown vector to all N prototype samples, and consequently exhibit O(N) behavior in both memory and time. We describe four techniques for expediting the nearest neighbor methods. replacing the linear search with a new kd tree method, exhibiting approximately ...

In this paper we present a comparison of the two dominant image preprocessing techniques for palmprint recognition, namely, histogram equalization and mean-variance normalization. We show that both techniques pursue a similar goal and that the difference in recognition efficiency stems from the fact that not all assumptions underlying the mean-variance normalization approach are always met. We ...
