Chamfer distances are widely used in image analysis, and many ways have been investigated to compute optimal chamfer mask coefficients. Unfortunately, these methods are not systematized: they have to be conducted manually for every mask size or image anisotropy. Since image acquisition (e.g. medical imaging) can lead to anisotropic discrete grids with unpredictable anisotropy value, automated c...

The distance transform has found many applications in image analysis. The Euclidean distance transform is computationally very intensive, and eecient discrete algorithms based on chamfer metrics are used to obtain its approximations. The chamfer metrics are selected to minimize an approximation error. In this paper, a new approach is developed to nd optimal chamfer local distances. This new app...

Fiber-reinforced composite restorations provide excellent esthetics; however, little is known regarding the influence of margin design on marginal accuracy and breaking strength for this type of crown. This study evaluated the effect of variations in tooth preparation design on the marginal accuracy and breaking strength of fiber-reinforced composite crowns. Three metal dies with a total conver...

Background and Aims: Marginal adaptation is important for the long-term success of full-coverage restorations. Preparation design is one of the important factors influencing the marginal integrity. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare the effect of radial shoulder and chamfer finish line designs on the marginal adaptation of all-ceramic Cercon restorations.Materials and Methods: ...

The test mask TM is the minimum neighbourhood sufficient to extract the medial axis of any discrete shape, for a given chamfer distance mask M. We propose an arithmetical framework to study TM in the case of chamfer norms. We characterize TM for 3×3 and 5×5 chamfer norm masks, and we give an algorithm to compute the appearance radius of the vector (2, 1) in TM.

PURPOSE This in vitro study evaluated and compared the vertical marginal gap of cast and milled full coverage gold copings using two margin designs (chamfer and chamfer bevel) before and after fitting adjustments. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ten impressions were made of two metal master dies (one chamfer margin, one chamfer-bevel margin) and poured twice in Type IV stone. The 20 subsequent casts wi...

The chamfer enhances the performance of the tool by strengthening the edge and reducing the possibility of tool wear and breakage. The strength of the chamfered tool can be investigated by analysis of process variables. This research investigates the effects of chamfer width and chamfer angle on process variables (force, stress, tool temperature and tool stress) in machining of a mild carbon lo...

OBJECTIVE One of the major problems of all ceramic restorations is their probable fracture against the occlusal force. The aim of the present in-vitro study is was to compare the effect of two marginal designs (chamfer & shoulder) on the fracture resistance of zirconia copings, CERCON (CAD/CAM). MATERIALS AND METHODS This in vitro study was done with single blind experimental technique. One s...

The current study evaluated the effect of different cervical finish line designs on the marginal adaptation of a zirconia ceramic. Four different marginal finish lines (c: chamfer, mc: mini-chamfer, fe: feather-edge and s: rounded shoulder) were prepared on phantom incisors. Die models for each preparation group (N = 28, n = 7 per finish line design group) were made of epoxy resin. Y-TZP (ICE Z...

The application of deep learning in the field 3D reconstruction has greatly improved quality object reconstruction. For methods that take point cloud as supervision information, previous research mainly focused on network architecture while setting Chamfer Distance (CD) loss default function. However, CD only contains distance information ignoring directional information. In this paper, we intr...
