This paper proposes a novel image denoising technique based on the normal inverse Gaussian (NIG) density model using an extended non-negative sparse coding (NNSC) algorithm. Here, we demonstrate that the NIG density provides a very good fitness to the non-negative sparse data. In denoising process, by exploiting a NIG-based maximum a posteriori estimator (MAP) of an image corrupted by additive ...

In this paper, a generalization of the q-Meyer-K?nig and Zeller operators by means (p,q)- calculus is introduced. Some approximation results for (p,q)-analogue Meyer-K?nig denoted Mn,p,q 0 < q p ? 1 are obtained. Also we investigate classical statistical versions Korovkin type based on proposed operator. Furthermore, some graphical examples convergence presented.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease during the second trimester of gestation on adverse pregnancy outcomes. MATERIAL AND METHODS Pregnant patients during the 1st and 2nd trimesters at antenatal care in a Public Health Center were divided into 2 groups: NIG--"no intervention" (n=17) or IG--"intervention" (n=16). IG patie...

Contralateral leg deficits between lower limbs during athletic movements are thought to increase the risk of injury and compromise performance. The purpose of this study was to quantify the magnitude of leg deficits during running in noninjured and previously injured Australian Rules football (ARF) players. The players included a group of noninjured ARF players (n = 11) and a group of previousl...

In this paper we model the daily average temperature via an extended version of the standard Ornstein Uhlenbeck process driven by a Levy noise with seasonally adjusted asymmetric ARCH process for volatility. More precisely, we model the disturbances with the Normal inverse Gaussian (NIG) and Variance gamma (VG) distribution. Besides modelling the residuals we also compare the prices of January ...

We propose a quasi-Monte Carlo (qMC) algorithm to simulate variates from the normal inverse Gaussian (NIG) distribution. The algorithm is based on a Monte Carlo technique found in Rydberg (Rydberg 1997), and is based on sampling three independent uniform variables. We apply the algorithm to three problems appearing in finance. First, we consider the valuation of plain vanilla call options and A...

In this article, normal inverse Gaussian (NIG) autoregressive model is introduced. The parameters of the are estimated using expectation maximization (EM) algorithm. efficacy EM algorithm shown simulated and real-world financial data. It that NIG fit very well on considered data hence could be useful in modelling various real-life time-series

BACKGROUND Peste des petits ruminants is an endemic disease of sheep and goats in Nigeria and vaccination has been the method of control but sporadic outbreaks have been reported. This study was carried out to characterize PPR viruses from outbreaks in 2007 and 2009 from Kaduna and Plateau States. RESULTS Of the 33 clinical samples analysed, 51.52% (n = 17) were positive for F protein gene pr...

Signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio (SINR) outage probability is among one of the key performance metrics of a wireless cellular network. In this paper, we propose a semi-analytical method based on saddle point approximation (SPA) technique to calculate the SINR outage of a wireless system whose SINR can be modeled in the form ∑M i=1 Xi 1+ ∑N i=1 Yi where Xi denotes the useful signal power,...
