A method for identifying Helicobacter pylori using a non-isotopic in situ hybridisation technique is described. A probe generated by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with primers directed against parts of the Helicobacter pylori 16SrRNA sequence was used. Paraffin wax embedded gastric biopsy specimens from patients with and without gastritis were hybridised with the probe, and the method was sho...

BACKGROUND Bone and joint infection involving Granulicatella adiacens is rare, and mainly involved in cases of bacteremia and infectious endocarditis. Here we report three cases of prosthetic joint infection involving G. adiacens that were successfully treated with surgery and prolonged antimicrobial treatment. We also review the two cases of prosthetic joint infection involving G. adiacens tha...

Colonization by Helicobacter species is commonly noted in many mammals. These infections often remain unrecognized, but can cause severe health complications or more subtle host immune perturbations. The aim of this study was to isolate and characterize putative novel Helicobacter spp. from Bengal tigers in Thailand. Morphological investigation (Gram-staining and electron microscopy) and geneti...

Dye׳s residues in textile effluents are hazardous for humans and animals health. Such pollutants can be degraded into non-harmful molecules using biological approaches that are considered cheaper and ecologically safer. Isolated 15 bacterial cultures from soil that could be used in biological system were showed decolorization capacity for Acid Green dye (33.9% to 94.0%) using thin layer chromat...

13 strains of bacteria were isolated from 12 shoes that were worn by children aged 6 to 12 for more than half a year. Through morphological observation, physiological and biochemical measurements, as well as 16SrRNA sequence analysis, the bacteria were identified as follows: Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus subtilis (5 subspecies), Bacillus spore (3 subspecies), Bacillus anthracis, Staphylococc...

In this study, Staphylococcus aureus was found to be the causative agent of furunculosis in 64 (27.5%) out 233 Iraqi patients presented with furunculosis. 16SrRNA gene located all isolates. Nevertheless, mecA and lukS-lukF genes were 60% 4% S. isolates, respectively. Interestingly, carrying isolates positive as well.

Francisella noatunensis subsp. orientalis (Fno) is the causative agent of piscine francisellosis, an emerging infectious disease in Asia and Latin America. In this study two outbreaks of francisellosis were diagnosed in the UK on the basis of histopathology, electron microscopy, PCR, bacterial isolation and fulfillment of Koch's postulates. Furthermore, a phenotypic fingerprint based on biochem...
