The one-pot three-component reaction of 2-aminobenzothiazole, benzaldehyde derivatives and β-ketoester, β-diketone or malonate derivatives in solvent-free conditions provides the corresponding pyrimido[2,1-b]benzothiazole derivatives at 60 ̊C in 60% 72% yields without using any catalyst in an optimistic time.

Addition of 2-aminobenzothiazole and substituted derivatives to mercuric acetate in warm ethanol leads to the high yield formation of [Hg{SC6H3XN(C[triple bond, length as m-dash]N)}]n resulting from loss of hydrogen and sulfur-carbon bond cleavage. Addition of phosphines affords a series of complexes in which the new ortho-cyano-aminothiophenolate ligands adopt three different binding modes.

A new series of 6-substituted 2-aminobenzothiazole derivatives were synthesized and screened in vitro as potential antimicrobials. Almost all the compounds showed antifungal activity. benzazolo [2,1-b]quinazolinones and triazolo[2,1-b]quinazolinones were synthesized in high yields by the condensation reaction of an aldehyde and a cyclic  β-diketone with 2 - aminobenzimidazole, 2 - aminobenzothiazole or 1, 2, 4 - triazole derivatives in 1 - butyl - 3 -methylimidazolium bromide as an ionic liquid under classic heating conditions within 5-60 minutes.
