A novel method for indole skeleton synthesis under mild conditions mediated by samarium(ii) diiodide has been developed. The reaction of N-allenyl-2-iodoaniline derivatives with SmI2 in the presence of HMPA and i-PrOH at 0 °C afforded indole derivatives in high yields.

2-phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid is(pbtc) a member of phosphonate family, and used as corrosion and scale inhibitor in cooling water systems. phosphonocarboxylates as a member of organophosphorus compounds have c-p and p-o bonds in their structures. pbtc is mainly used as carbonate scale inhibitor (caco3), sulphate scale inhibitor (caso4), corrosion inhibitor of low alloyed steel, eff...

In this research, mesoporous silica was served as the host of molybdate (corrosion inhibitor). The loaded mesoporous silica was dispersed in a paint matrix. The composite was then coated on the carbon steel surface. Polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests showed that the corrosion resistance of the scratched paint containing molybdate loaded mesoporous silica ...

Chymotrypsin inhibitor 2 (CI-2) is one of the growing family of proteins for which well-defined solution and crystal structures have been published and for which small, but distinct differences between these were found. It presents an ideal case to address the question of whether a structural difference is physically real or due to the simplifying approximations with respect to averaging that a...

Protein stability is usually studied in simple buffered solutions, but most proteins function inside cells, where the heterogeneous and crowded environment presents a complex, nonideal system. Proteins are expected to behave differently under cellular crowding owing to two types of contacts: hard-core repulsions and weak, chemical interactions. The effect of hard-core repulsions is purely entro...

Independent experimental and theoretical studies of the unfolding of barley chymotrypsin inhibitor 2 (CI2) are compared in an attempt to derive plausible three-dimensional structural models of the transition states. A very simple structure index is calculated along the sequence for the molecular dynamics-generated transition state models to facilitate comparison with the phi F values. The two a...

The reversible folding and unfolding of barley chymotrypsin inhibitor 2 (CI2) appears to be a rare example in which both equilibria and kinetics are described by a two-state model. Equilibrium denaturation by guanidinium chloride and heat is completely reversible, and the data can be fitted to a simple two-state model involving only native and denatured forms. The free energy of folding in the ...

Protein conformations change among distinct thermodynamic states as solution conditions (temperature, denaturants, pH) are altered or when they are subjected to mechanical forces. A quantitative description of the changes in the relative stabilities of the various thermodynamic states is needed to interpret and predict experimental outcomes. We provide a framework based on the Molecular Transfe...

To explore the role of entropy and chain connectivity in protein folding, a particularly interesting scheme, namely, the circular permutation, has been used. Recently, experimental observations showed that there are large differences in the folding mechanisms between the wild-type proteins and their circular permutants. These differences are strongly related to the change in the intrachain conn...
