Remote Sensing is the gathering of information about a place from a distance. Such information can occur by sensors or satellite, without making any direct contact with that object. We present a new technique for the compression of remote sensing images based on wavelet transform. This transform has similar complexity as the separable wavelet transform while providing better energy compaction a...

l1-SPIRiT is a fast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) method which combines parallel imaging (PI) with compressed sensing (CS) by performing a joint l1-norm and l2-norm optimization procedure. The original l1-SPIRiT method uses two-dimensional (2D) Wavelet transform to exploit the intra-coil data redundancies and a joint sparsity model to exploit the inter-coil data redundancies. In this work, w...

In this paper we propose a robust watermarking algorithm for 3D mesh. The algorithm is based on spherical wavelet transform. Our basic idea is to decompose the original mesh into a series of details at different scales by using spherical wavelet transform; the watermark is then embedded into the different levels of details. The embedding process includes: global sphere parameterization, spheric...

We present a preliminary investigation of compression of segmented 3D seismic volumes for the rendering purposes. Promising results are obtained on the base of 3D discrete cosine transforms followed by the SPIHT coding scheme. An accelerated version of the algorithm combines 1D discrete cosine transform in vertical direction with the 2D wavelet transform of horizontal slices. In this case the S...

In this correspondence, a method is proposed for estimating the surface orientation of a planar texture under perspective projection based on the ridge of a two-dimensional (2-D) continuous wavelet transform (CWT). We show that an analytical solution of the surface orientation can be derived from the scales of the ridge surface. A comparative study with an existing method is given.

We propose an embedded, block-based, image wavelet transform coding algorithm of low complexity. The embedded coding of Set Partitioned Embedded bloCK (SPECK) algorithm is modified and extended to three dimensions. The resultant algorithm, three-Dimensional Set Partitioned Embedded bloCK (3D-SPECK), efficiently encodes 3D volumetric image data by exploiting the dependencies in all dimensions. 3...

In this paper, we propose a 3D geometry compression technique for densely sampled surface meshes. Based on a 3D multiresolution analysis (performed by a 3D Discrete Wavelet Transform for semi-regular meshes), this scheme includes a model-based bit allocation process across the wavelet subbands and an efficient surface adapted weighted criterion for 3D wavelet coefficient coordinates. This permi...

Wide amount of applications like volumetric medical data compression, video watermarking and video coding use the three-dimensional wavelet transform (3D-DWT) in their algorithms. In this work, we present GPU algorithms, based on both global and shared memory, to compute the 3D-DWT transform on both the GTX280 and the GMT540 platforms. The results obtained show that speed-ups of 19.7 and 10.65 ...

This paper proposes a three-dimensional (3D) integer wavelet transform with reduced amount of rounding noise. Non-separable multi-dimensional lifting structures are introduced to decrease the total number of lifting steps. Since the lifting step contains a rounding operation, variance of the rounding noise generated due to the rounding operation inside the transform is reduced. This paper also ...
