conclusions this study showed that the collected soil from studied areas was rich of keratinophilic fungi and actinomycetes, therefore hygiene protocol should be taken to prevent the spread of pathogenic and saprophytes fungi in the environment of susceptible person. background keratinophilic fungi are a group of fungi that colonize in various keratinous substrates and degrade them to the compo...

Glycomyces spp. are rare actinomycetes that are potential antibiotic producers. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Glycomyces fuscus TRM 49117. This is the first genome report of a bacterium belonging to the genus Glycomyces The genome information of G. fuscus will contribute to studies on the structure and function of antibiotics.

Associations with symbiotic organisms can serve as a strategy for social insects to resist pathogens. Antibiotics produced by attine ectosymbionts (Actinobacteria) suppress the growth of Escovopsis spp., the specialized parasite of attine fungus gardens. Our objective was to evaluate whether the presence or absence of symbiotic actinobacteria covering the whole ant cuticle is related to differe...

Airborne contamination by thermophilic actinomycetes, micromycetes and Gram negative bacteria was determined on 34 dairy farms and related to fodder drying and storage methods. Eighteen farms had a barn drying system, eight with additional heating; the remaining 16 had traditional fodder storage methods. Three air samples were obtained for each farm with a six stage Andersen sampler. The thermo...

background and purpose: actinomycetes have been discovered as source of antifungal compounds that are currently in clinical use. invasive aspergillosis (ia) due to aspergillus fumigatus has been identified as individual drug-resistant aspergillus spp. to be an emerging pathogen opportunities a global scale. this paper described the antifungal activity of one terrestrial actinomycete against the...

Thermophilic actinomycetes are the primary sensitizing agents in farmer's lung disease. We compared dilution pour-plate and spread-plate methods for their usefulness in enumerating thermophilic actinomycetes in moldy silage dust and evaluated the ability of a nonquantitative gravity settling technique to recover thermophilic actinomycetes from moldy silage. Spread plates and pour plates yielded...

The present study was carried out in order to establish a suitable protocol for the screening of phosphate solubilizing actinomycetes. 10 isolates with distinct morphology were isolated and purified on starch casein agar from forest soils of Mahabubnagar district, Andhra Pradesh. These isolates screened for phosphate solubilizing activity on modified starch casein agar which contains tricalcium...

A total of 62 isolates of actinomycetes were isolated from 7 soil samples collected from Agriculture Research Center Semongok, Sarawak. All 62 isolates exhibited a range of colony colours (dark grey, grey, dark brown, brownish, whitish and yellowish white). All the isolates were later purified and subjected to a few enzymatic screening. Results indicate that, 48, 46 and 41 isolates showed the a...
