Understanding the strategies of bacterial infections requires an extensive knowledge essential role virulence factors play in pathogenicity. These components are spreading infection, capacity bacteria to avoid host defenses and start disease. The absence or presence certain has significant influence on rate infection dissemination. Virulence divided into four groups: adhesion factors, invasion ...
ABSTRACT Background and objectives: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common infectious diseases caused by bacteria. The primary etiologic agent of UTIs is Escherichia coli. Uropathogenic E.coli (UPEC) strains have a number of specific virulence factors, which can worsen UTIs. This study was performed to...
Abstract The interaction of Corynebacterium diphtheriae and closely related species with host cells is much more complex than originally thought when these bacteria were considered as extracellular pathogens. Host-pathogen studies revealed a wide range virulence factors contributing to adhesion, invasion, cell damage varying degrees. In combination, lead the successful colonization systems.
Objective(s): The present study investigated the prevalence of genes encoding for exotoxins, adhesion and biofilm factors in Staphylococcus aureus isolates obtained from samples in a referral burn hospital in Tehran, Iran.Materials and Methods: S. aureus isolates obtained from patients, personnel and surfaces in the wards of a burn hospi...
the genus pseudomonas consists of more than 120 species that are ubiquitous in moist environments such as water and soil ecosystems and are pathogenic to animals and humans. within the genus of pseudomonas, p. aeruginosa is most frequently associated with human infections. the bacterium is regarded as an opportunistic pathogen, primarily causing nosocomial infections in immunocompromised patien...
The virulence markers and the antimicrobial resistance profiles of 78 Escherichia coli isolates causing obstetric infections accompanied by sepsis or not were studied. Adhesion-related virulence factors were the most prevalent markers. Low rates of resistance to the antimicrobial agents used as first-line therapy suggest their correct implementation in stewardship guidelines.
Candida albicans is an opportunistic human pathogen, which colonizes at several anatomically distinct sites including skin, oral, gastrointestinal tract, and vagina. How harmless commensal C. albicans become a human pathogen when opportunity comes is not clear. This review will focus on the molecular dissection of virulence factors of C. albicans, including adhesion, proteinases secretion, hyph...
conclusions sphingomonas paucimobilis can cause serious infections, especially in immunocompromised patients with determined risk factors such as indwelling catheters and diabetes mellitus, due to the effects of multiple virulence factors, together with biofilm formation. results all the clinical isolates of s. paucimobilis produced biofilms. primary bacteraemia (n = 16) was the most common cli...
the incidence of virulence factors among 114 enterococcus faecalis and 35 enterococcus faecium strains from different clinical specimens were compared with those isolated from control groups. a few of the isolates expressed two or more of the following traits simultaneously: hemolysin, aggregation substance, gelatinase, dnase, hemagglutinin and antibiotic resistance. the frequencies of hemolysi...
