We draw a distinction between the Aharonov Bohm phase shift and the Aharonov Bohm effect. Although the Aharonov Bohm phase shift occurring when an electron beam passes around a magnetic solenoid is well-verified experimentally, it is not clear whether this phase shift occurs because of classical forces or because of a topological effect occurring in the absence of classical forces as claimed by...

To this end we re...

Although there is good experimental evidence for the Aharonov Bohm phase shift occurring when a solenoid is placed between the beams forming a double-slit electron interference pattern, there has been very little analysis of the relevant classical electromagnetic forces. These forces between a point charge and a solenoid involve subtle relativistic effects of order v c analogous to those discus...

We use a covariant formalism that is capable of describing the electric and magnetic versions Aharonov-Bohm effect, as well Aharonov-Casher through local interactions charges currents with quantum electromagnetic field. By considering only particle field can affect its behavior, we show effect must be present even if solenoid generating shielded by perfect conductor, experimentally demonstrated.

In 1969 Aharonov, Pend leton and Petersen introduced a new dynamical variable, the modular momentum, and discussed how several nonlDcal interactions could be characterized as resulting from its exchange. In this paper we review and extend their approach by applying it to the Aharonov~Bohm effect with an electromagnetic scalar potential. First we review the nonclassical nature of the effect, sho...

We study the time-dependent Aharonov-Bohm effect on the noncommutative space. Because there is no net Aharonov-Bohm phase shift in the time-dependent case on the commutative space, therefore, a tiny deviation from zero indicates new physics. Based on the Seiberg-Witten map we obtain the gauge invariant and Lorentz covariant Aharonov-Bohm phase shift in general case on noncommutative space. We f...
