Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the metal surface into a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant, anodic oxide finish. Aluminum is ideally suited to anodizing, although other nonferrous metals, such as magnesium and titanium, also can be anodized. The anodic oxide structure originates from the aluminum substrate and is composed entirely of aluminum oxide. This aluminum ox...
A new material for microchannel plates (MCP) is proposed — anodic aluminum oxide. Microchannel plates made of this material may be much cheaper than with conventional lead glass MCP. Also a significantly smaller channel diameter (up to 70 nm) is easily achievable, which means better spatial resolution and the possibility to operate in strong magnetic fields. Methods and means are developed for ...
A simple theoretical model based on electric-field-assisted growth and dissolution of the barrier oxide has been proposed to understand the mechanisms for formation of a one-dimensional 1D anodic aluminum oxide AAO nanopore array. It is shown that formation of a one-dimensional horizontal nanopore array is the natural result of the self-adjusting effect of anodic oxidation. Because the electric...
nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide (aao) has been used in many different fields of science and technology, due to its great structural characteristics. solar selective surface is an important application of this type porous material. this paper investigates the effect of nanoporous aao properties, including; film thickness, pore area percentage and pore diameter, on absorption spectra in the rang...
Generic approaches to nano-dots and nano-rings have been developed via sputtering an Au layer on one planar surface side of porous anodic aluminum oxide template and subsequent electrodeposition.
Nanostructured materials have been successfully produced by electrodeposition into Anodic Aluminum Oxide (AAO) templates. Electron microscopy techniques have been used for nanoscale characterization. The structure, dimensions and chemistry of individual nanostructured materials were analyzed using SEM and TEM microscopy
Atomic layer deposition (ALD) has been used in advanced applications where thin layers of materials with precise thickness down to the nanometer scale are needed. Using anodic oxidation, we prepared the porous alumina. Anodic oxidation was carried out in 5 C 0.3M oxalic acid with anodizing voltages (~ 40 V) and two step anodization method. SEM shows that, these porous anodic oxides are well ali...
Confined conversion of CuS nanowires to CuO nanotubes by annealing-induced diffusion in nanochannels
Copper oxide (CuO) nanotubes were successfully converted from CuS nanowires embedded in anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template by annealing-induced diffusion in a confined tube-type space. The spreading of CuO and formation of CuO layer on the nanochannel surface of AAO, and the confinement offered by AAO nanochannels play a key role in the formation of CuO nanotubes.
The anodization of aluminum is an electro-chemical process that changes the surface chemistry of the metal, via oxidation, to produce an anodic oxide layer. During this process a self organized, highly ordered array of cylindrical shaped pores can be produced with controllable pore diameters, periodicity and density distribution. This enables anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membranes to be used as ...
