Many real-time applications over the wide-area network perform proximity measurements to optimize their performance. These include voice over IP [14], multicast streaming (e.g., [7, 3, 4]), data transfer applications that perform locality-aware redirection and server selection (e.g., [15]), and system infrastructures such as proximityaware DHTs (e.g., [12]) and services such as positioning syst...

In this paper we analyze the average queue lengths in a combined input-output queued switch using a maximal size matching scheduling algorithm. We compare these average queue lengths to the average queue lengths achieved by an optimal switch. We model the cell arrival process as independent and identically distributed between time slots and uniformly distributed among input and output ports. Fo...

The speedup of a switch is the factor by which the switch, and hence the memory used in the switch, runs faster compared to the line rate. In high-speed switches, line rates are already touching limits at which memory can operate. In this scenario, it is very important for a switch to run at as low a speedup as possible. In the past, it has been shown that 100% throughput can be achieved for an...

A NULL Cycle Reduction (NCR) technique is developed to increase the throughput of delay-insensitive digital systems. NCR reduces the time required to flush complete DATA wavefronts, commonly referred to as the NULL or Empty cycle. The NCR technique exploits parallelism by partitioning input wavefronts such that one circuit processes a DATA wavefront, while its duplicate processes a NULL wavefro...

in the present work, we have obtained the equation of state for neutron star matter considering the in uence of the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic spin state. we have also investigated the structure of neutron stars. according to our results, the spin asymmetry sti ens the equation of state and leads to high mass for the neutron star.

In this paper, we first define a difference measure between the old and new sequential patterns of stream data, which is proved to be a distance. Then we propose an experimental method, called TPD (Tradeoff between Performance and Difference), to decide when to update the sequential patterns of stream data by making a tradeoff between the performance of increasingly updating algorithms and the ...

The e8'ect of including mass-asymmetry dependent 6ssion delay times into the statistical model has been investigated. The shape of the predicted charge distribution of fission fragments is found to be very sensitive to the magnitude and mass-asymmetry dependence of these delay times. Measured mass-asymmetry dependent prefission neutron multiplicities were fit with calculated presaddle values by...

We consider traffic scheduling in an N×N packet switch with an optical switch fabric, where the fabric requires a reconfiguration overhead to change its switch configurations. To provide 100% throughput with bounded packet delay, a speedup in the switch fabric is necessary to compensate for both the reconfiguration overhead and the inefficiency of the scheduling algorithm. In order to reduce th...
