In a multistatic cloud radar system, receive elements (REs) measure signals sent by a transmit element (TE) and reflected from a target and possibly clutter, in the presence of interference and noise. The REs communicate over non-ideal backhaul links with a fusion center (FC), or cloud processor, where the presence or absence of the target is determined. Two different backhaul architectures are...

With the increasing network densification, it has become exceedingly difficult to provide traditional fiber backhaul access to each cell site, which is especially true for small cell base stations (SBSs). The increasing maturity of millimeter wave (mmWave) communication has opened up the possibility of providing high-speed wireless backhaul to such cell sites. Since mmWave is also suitable for ...

In this paper, we consider an analytical approach to analyze the CDMA AAL2 T1 backhaul efficiency. Without resorting to actual simulation, we demonstrate that the AAL2 backhaul voice efficiency can be calculated fairly easily. Some practical considerations in calculating the efficiency are also discussed. Key-Words: CDMA, AAL2, Backhaul Efficiency

In this paper, an underwater base station initiating (UBSI) resource allocation is proposed for underwater cellular wireless networks (UCWNs), which is a new approach to determine the backhaul capacity of underwater base stations (UBSs). This backhaul is a communication link from a UBS to a UBS controller (UBSC). Contrary to conventional resource allocation protocols, a UBS initiates to re-dete...

Coordinating base stations (BSs) in current and future mobile access networks is an important approach to reduce interference and to achieve high data rates. One coordination approach is Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP) transmission, in which a set of multiple BSs transmit data to a user equipment (UE) in a coordinated manner. Among the BSs CoMP requires high capacities and low latencies in the b...

In this paper, we consider the optimization of wireless capacity-limited backhaul links in future heterogeneous networks (HetNets). We assume that the HetNet is formed with one macro-cell base station (MBS), which is associated with multiple small-cell base stations (SBSs). It is also assumed both the MBS and the SBSs are equipped with massive arrays, while all mobiles users (macro-cell and sma...

Wireless Heterogeneous Network (HetNet) with small cells presents a new backhauling challenge which differs from those of experienced by conventional macro-cells. In practice, the choice of backhaul technology for these small cells whether fiber, xDSL, point–to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless, or multi-hop/mesh networks, is often governed by availability and cost, and not by required cap...

Heterogeneous networks (HetNets) have been considered as a promising architecture for upcoming 5G networks due to their high energy and spectrum efficiency. However, providing backhaul connectivity for all macro and pico base stations (BSs) in HetNets constitutes a significant share of infrastructure cost. Recently, the idea of flexible backhaul has drown a lot of attention both from industry a...

Vehicle Routing Problem with Backhauls is an extension of vehicle routing problem. In this problem, customers are divided into two sets as linehaul and backhaul customers. All goods are delivered to linehaul customers before goods are brought from backhaul customers. In this study, a heuristic based on integer programming is proposed. Firstly linehaul and backhaul customers are clustered to veh...
