Bimetallic dendrimer-encapsulated nanoparticles (DENs) are important materials, because they have demonstrated improvement in performance compared to the monometallic DENs in many systems when they are used as catalysts. This tutorial review focuses on the recent research advances in bimetallic DENs with respect to their synthesis, characterization, and applications as catalysts. Bimetallic DEN...

Hollow Pd/Sn bimetallic nanocrystals were fabricated by a fast one-pot strategy in an oleylamine system. This method produced a fine single crystalline bimetallic hollow nanostructure. The process and influencing factors of the reaction are also discussed in this work. Bimetallic nanoparticles possessing special hollow structures with single-crystalline nature are expected to have particular el...

The bimetallic Fe-Ru oxide nanoparticles were synthesized in the liquid-phase plasma (LPP) method which employed iron chloride and ruthenium chloride as precursors. The active species (OH·, Hα, Hβ, and O(I)) and the iron and ruthenium ions were observed in the plasma field created by the LPP process. The spherical-shaped bimetallic Fe-Ru oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by the LPP reaction,...

PhI(OAc)(2) is a common oxidant for Pd-catalyzed C-H bond functionalizations. Mechanistic hypotheses since the 1960s have suggested a Pd(II)/Pd(IV) mechanism. Here we present evidence for the relevance of bimetallic Pd(III) complexes to catalysis. A bimetallic Pd(III) acetate was isolated and can afford product by bimetallic reductive elimination.

During experimental studies of the equal-channel angular pressing-drawing effect on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties change, principal possibility effectiveness using proposed continuous method for forming an ultrafine-grained structure increasing strength steel-aluminum wire was proved. The deformation carried out at ambient temperature in three passes. It is shown that both ...

In this work we report strategies to nucleate bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs) made by gas phase synthesis of elements showing difficulty in homogeneous nucleation. It is shown that the nucleation assisted problem of bimetallic NP synthesis can be solved via the following pathways: (i) selecting an element which can itself nucleate and act as a nucleation center for the synthesis of bimetallic NP...

Bimetallic parts are used in many industries for weight and cost reduction of workpieces working under high loads and wear. One application for this type of composite material is in automotive industry. In this work the tool wear and cutting forces in the face milling of bimetallic parts made of aluminum and cast iron were investigated. A356 and GG25 alloys that are common materials for bimetal...

A catalytic site typically consists of one or more atoms of a catalyst surface that arrange into a configuration offering a specific electronic structure for adsorbing or dissociating reactant molecules. The catalytic activity of adjacent bimetallic sites of metallic nanoparticles has been studied previously. An isolated bimetallic site supported on a non-metallic surface could exhibit a distin...

The introduction of copper as wire bonding material brings about a new challenge aluminum bond pad bimetallic corrosion at the copper/aluminum galvanic interface. Aluminum is well known to undergo pitting under halide-contaminated environments, even in slightly acidic conditions. This paper aims study morphology and progression influenced by different halide contaminations presence absence cont...
