Human bocavirus is a newly identified, globally prevalent, parvovirus that is associated with respiratory infection in infants and young children. Parvoviruses encode a large nonstructural protein 1 (NS1) that is essential for replication of the viral single-stranded DNA genome and DNA packaging and may play versatile roles in virus-host interactions. Here, we report the structure of the human ...

Immunofluorescence assays (IFAs) for detection of human bocavirus (HBoV) proteins (VP1, VP2, NP-1, and NS1) were developed. The VP1 IFA was the most sensitive for detection of IgG antibody and suitable for screening. IgG antibodies in convalescent-phase sera from HBoV-positive patients were detected by VP1 and VP2 IFAs. Sensitivities of NP-1 and NS1 IFAs were low.

Respiratory tract infections are the primary cause of morbidity and mortality globally. Human bocavirus 1 (HBoV1), a member Parvoviridae family causes wide spectrum respiratory diseases in children, gastroenteritis adults. The mechanisms latency, persistence, reinfection Bocavirus poorly understood at present due to lack permissive cell lines efficient animal models. Moreover, dual HBoV other v...

Here, we report the first complete genome sequences of two strains of porcine bocavirus (JOA_011 and JOA_015) detected in Uganda and Kenya, respectively. These data will help in understanding the molecular and evolutionary characteristics of the porcine bocaviruses in this region and the development of appropriate diagnostic and control tools.

background: human bocavirus ( hbov) infection is of worldwide distribution. there is increasing evidence that hbov is pathogenic for the human gastroenteric tract. however, less data are available on the role of hbov in gastroenteritis. the present study was aimed to determine the prevalence of hbov in children with gastroenteritis.   methods : real-time pcr taqman was used to screen 200 stool ...

Human bocavirus has rarely been incriminated in fatal or life-threatening respiratory infections. We report a case of fatal disseminated infection with subacute lymphocytic myocarditis in a 13-month-old child. The human bocavirus 2 genome was detected by PCR analysis in nasal swab, plasma, urine, ascitic fluid, and mesenteric node, skeletal muscle, and lung tissue specimens.

We detected human bocavirus in 89 (19.3%) of 462 fecal samples collected during 3 periods from 1985 through 2010 from children <5 years of age in Chile who were hospitalized with acute gastroenteritis. Our findings confirm the long-term circulation of human bocavirus in Chile.

Minute virus of canines (MVC) is a member of the genus Bocavirus in the family Parvoviridae. We have molecularly cloned and sequenced the 5'- and 3'-terminal palindromes of MVC. The MVC genome, 5,404 nucleotides (nt) in length, shared an identity of 52.6% and 52.1% with that of human bocavirus and bovine parvovirus, respectively. It had distinct palindromic hairpins of 183 nt and 198 nt at the ...
