background: intestinal protozoa transmitted by food are the most common opportunistic parasites among the hiv+/aids patients. as, there is no report about prevalence of food-borne intestinal parasites in such patients in yazd, so this study was performed to determine the prevalence of intestinal protozoa in the hiv+/aids patients in comparison with hiv- individuals. methods: a case-control stud...
Introduction: Climate changes are one of the factors associated with human activities for the destruction of the ecosystem. This factor leads to global warming, changing rainfall patterns, increasing the amount and severity of climate factors such as storms, and rising sea levels. Parasites are also an integral part of this ecosystem; therefore, the present study considered the effect of climat...
This survey investigated the distribution of various intestinal parasites and vector-borne pathogens in stray and free-roaming cats living in four regions of Greece. A total number of one hundred and fifty cats living in three Islands (Crete, Mykonos and Skopelos) and in Athens municipality was established as a realistic aim to be accomplished in the study areas. All cats were examined with dif...
The Anolis lizards of the eastern Caribbean islands are parasitized by several species of malaria parasites (Plasmodium). Here I focus on two species of Plasmodium, using molecular data (mitochondrial cytochrome b sequences) to recover the phylogeography of the parasites throughout the Lesser Antilles and Puerto Rico. The two parasites were originally described as a single species, P. azurophil...
Biodiversity loss can alter disease transmission; however, the magnitude and direction of these effects vary widely across ecosystems, scales, and pathogens. Here we experimentally examine the effects of one of the most globally pervasive patterns of biodiversity decline, the selective loss of large wildlife, on infection probability, intensity and population size of a group of common rodent-bo...
Pathogenic parasites including helminths and protozoa are responsible for foodborne diseases in developed developing countries. Reports of waterborne protozoan infections very rare. Food zoonotic their transmission stages listed this review it is aimed to give brief information about the food-borne protozoa.
