Background: Despite major diagnostic and industrial progresses in the technology and use of Ionizing radiations, they have been found to be harmful to the health of the radiology and nuclear medicine staffs. Since Ionizing radiations have the potential to produce free radicals, therefore, it is likely that the total plasma level of anti-oxidant in medical and nuclear medicine staffs could be re...

To address the burst loss problem in OBS network, we propose a new optical burst control algorithm, which estimates the future burst traffic condition to eliminate the effect of congestion reaction delay. Through the simulations, we verify that the proposed algorithm outperforms other existing burst control algorithms.

The cumulative light curves of Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs) smooth the spiky nature of the running light curve. The cumulative count increases in an approximately linear way with time t for most bursts. In 19 out of 398 GRBs with T90 > 2 s, the cumulative light curve was found to increase with time as ∼ t 2 implying a linear increase in the running light curve. The non-linear sections last for a sub...

background adenylate cyclase toxin (cyaa) is an important virulence factor of bordetella pertussis, the causative agent of whooping cough, and a potential component of acellular pertussis vaccine. objectives in the present study the impact of invasive cyaa on oxidative activities of phagocytes was compared with the other form of this molecule to investigate the activity of different parts of mo...

This paper concerns the extent to which the precedence effect is observed when leading and lagging sounds occupy different spectral regions. Subjects, listening under headphones, were asked to match the intracranial lateral position of an acoustic pointer to that of a test stimulus composed of two binaural noise bursts with asynchronous onsets, parametrically varied frequency content, and diffe...

Background. Chronic renal insufficiency is associated with the retention of solutes normally excreted by healthy kidneys. P-cresol, a prototype protein-bound uraemic retention solute, has been shown to exert toxic effects in vitro. Recently, however, it has been demonstrated that p-cresol in the human body is conjugated, with p-cresylsulphate as the main metabolite. Methods. The present study e...

Introduction: PMA is known to induce the differentiation of monocytes to macrophages. This agent also increases the killing effect of the monocytes/macrophages through oxidative burst and can be used as a stimulant for oxidative burst assay. The present experimental study was intended to investigate the in vitro effects of PMA on the differentiation, morphological changes, cell adherence and th...

BACKGROUND Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a method capable of temporarily suppressing tinnitus by delivering tonic or burst stimuli. Burst TMS has a high interindividual variability and low effect size. Tinnitus type and laterality, tinnitus-related distress, and tinnitus duration might contribute to this large individual variation. METHODS The effect of burst TMS on the auditory ...
