Quartz inclusion thermobarometry utilizes the pressureand temperature-sensitive Raman peak shifts of quartz inclusions in garnet to determine formation pressure and temperature (PT) conditions. The measured Raman shift indicates the pressure currently retained in the inclusions at ambient external conditions, such that entrapment PT conditions (i.e., P and T of garnet growth) can be determined ...

In this document we illustrate the module preservation statistics on simulated data. We describe the simulation method and seven simulation studies in more detail than in the main text. The design and main results of the simulations are summarized in Figure 8 of the main article which we reproduce here for convenience in Figure 1. A complete table of results can be found in the accompanying Sup...

OBJECTIVES We aimed to validate a new flow convergence (FC) method that eliminated the need to locate the regurgitant orifice and that could be performed semiautomatedly. BACKGROUND Complex and time-consuming features of previously validated color Doppler methods for determining mitral regurgitant volume (MRV) have prevented their widespread clinical use. METHODS Thirty-nine different hemod...

We provide an assessment of the statistical distributions in Microsoft r © Excel versions 97 through 2007 along with two competing spreadsheet programs, namely Gnumeric 1.7.11 and OpenOffice.org Calc 2.3.0. We find that the accuracy of various statistical functions in Excel 2007 range from unacceptably bad to acceptable but significantly inferior in comparison to alternative implementations. In...

This note describes a Mathematica interface for Fortran code generated by Form-Calc. The interfacing code is set up automatically so that only minuscule changes in the driver files are required. The interface makes a function to compute the cross-section or decay rate available in Mathematica. This function depends on the model parameters chosen for interfacing in the Fortran code.

Calcitonin and ·-CGRP are products of the alternatively spliced gene CALCA. Calcitonin (CALC) mRNA is predominantly found in thyrodial C cells and mRNA encoding the neuropeptide calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in neural tissues (Amara et al., 1982, Rosenfeld et al., 1983). In vivo, calcitonin reduces serum calcium and acts as an antagonist to the parathyroid hormone. The human CALC-A/·-C...

We propose the first general technique for proving genuine lower bounds in the expansion-based QBF proof systems ∀Exp+Res and IR-calc. We present the technique in a framework centred on natural properties of winning strategies in the ‘evaluation game’ interpretation of QBF semantics. As applications, we prove an exponential lower bound on IR-calc proof size for a whole class of formula families...

We report the first results of relativistic correlation calculation of the spectroscopic properties for the ground state of E112H and its cation in which spin-orbit interaction is taken into account non-perturbatively. Studying the properties of E112 (eka-Hg) is required for chemical identification of its long-lived isotope, (283)112. It is shown that appropriate accounting for spin-orbit effec...
