Two new species of Taphioporus Moseyko & Kirejtshuk are described and illustrated from Baltic amber: T. rufous sp. nov. and T. carsteni sp. nov. Members of this fossil genus are known from Baltic and Rovno amber. A key to species of Taphioporus is provided.

A new genus and species of Lamprosomatinae, Cachiporra extremaglobosa Chamorro & Konstantinov, is described from Brazil. A new tribe, Cachiporrini, is proposed. The first phylogenetic analysis of Lamprosomatinae based on adult morphological caharacters is conducted. Comparisons are made among lamprosomatine tribes and genera. A key to tribes is provided.

The Neotropical genus Cassidinoma Hincks is revised. A new synonymy is proposed: Cassidinoma denticulata (Boheman) = Cassidinoma monstrosa (Boheman) syn. n. The diagnosis, description, distribution, and biology are reviewed, and new distribution records are included. Illustrations of the habitus of adult and morphological structures are also added.

Three new species of Chrysomelidae with extraordinary extensions of the male mandibles are described: Scaphodius drehu sp. nov. and S. ferox sp. nov. (Cryptocephalinae), from New Caledonia, and Chaloenus gajah sp. nov. (Galerucinae), from Borneo. Designation of the type species of Chaloenus Westwood, 1861, is clarified. Synonymy of Scaphodius Chapuis, 1874, with Nyetra Baly, 1877, is supported....

The cabbage beetle, Colaphellus bowringi Baly (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), a serious pest of crucifers in China, undergoes summer or winter diapause in the soil as an adult. In the present study, the incidence of diapause were measured in reciprocal crosses between a high-diapause strain (HD strain) and a laboratory-selected nondiapausing strain (ND strain) under different photoperiods and temp...

When symbioses between insects and bacteria are discussed, the origin of a given association is regularly of interest. We examined the evolution of the symbiosis between reed beetles (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae, Donaciinae) and intracellular symbionts belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae. We analyzed the partial sequence of the 16S rRNA to assess the phylogenetic relationships with bacteria we fo...

BACKGROUND The great diversity of the "Phytophaga" (weevils, longhorn beetles and leaf beetles) has been attributed to their co-radiation with the angiosperms based on matching age estimates for both groups, but phylogenetic information and molecular clock calibrations remain insufficient for this conclusion. METHODOLOGY A phylogenetic analysis of the leaf beetles (Chrysomelidae) was conducte...

Notosacantha bertounesquei sp. nov. is described from Kerala state in southern India. This new species belongs to the group of two large species hitherto known only from Sri Lanka. Checklist and key to Notosacantha species of Sri Lanka and southern India are provided.

The leaf-beetle genus Timarcha Latreille comprises about four subgenera, 125 species and 30 subspecies, spread in eastern North America and around the Mediterranean basin. They are absent from Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and Egypt, where very probably European and African species once met, but were eradicated during the Pleistocene desertification. In Libya, it survives along the coast on the weste...
