Polarization profiles of several hundred pulsars have been published recently (eg. Gould & Lyne 1998, GL98; Weisberg et al. 1999). In this report, we summarize the characteristics of circular and high linear polarizations of pulsar profiles, based on all previously published data. Han et al. (1998) systematically studied the circular polarization of pulsar profiles. They found that circular pol...

High resolution studies of circular polarization allow us see where it arises in a jet, study its local fractional level and spectrum, and compare these results to local measures of linear polarization and Faraday rotation. Here we not only review past results from Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) circular polarization studies, but we also present preliminary new results on two quasars. In the c...

We present five epochs of 15 GHz VLBA observations of 13 AGN. These observations were specially calibrated to detect parsec-scale circular polarization and our calibration techniques are discussed and analyzed in detail. We obtained reliable detections of parsec-scale circular polarization in the radio jets of four AGN: 3C 84, PKS 0528+134, 3C 273, and 3C 279. For each of these objects our dete...

We report here BIMA array observations of linear polarization in Sagittarius A*, the compact radio source in the Galactic Center. These observations had a resolution of 20 × 5 oriented North-South. We do not detect linear or circular polarization at a level of 1.8% (1-σ) at 112 GHz. This puts a new constraint on models that show a sharp change in linear polarization fraction at 100 GHz. Subject...

Radiometric measurements of the microwave emissivity of foam were conducted in May 2000 at the Naval Research Laboratory’s Chesapeake Bay Detachment using radiometers operating at 10.8 and 36.5 GHz. Horizontal and vertical polarization measurements were made at 36.5 GHz; horizontal, vertical, +45, 45, left circular, and right circular polarization measurements were obtained at 10.8 GHz. Surface...

We report the detection of circular polarization during the 1994 outburst of the Galactic microquasar GRO J1655−40. The circular polarization is clearly detected at 1.4 and 2.4 GHz, but not at 4.8 and 8.4 GHz, where its magnitude never exceeds 5 mJy. Both the sign and magnitude of the circular polarization evolve during the outburst. The time dependence and magnitude of the polarized emission c...

We report here the detection of circular polarization in the Galactic Center black hole candidate, Sagittarius A*. The detection was made at 4.8 GHz and 8.4 GHz with the Very Large Array. We find that the fractional circular polarization at 4.8 GHz is mc = −0.36 ± 0.05% and that the spectral index of the circular polarization is α = −0.6 ± 0.3 (mc ∝ ν). The systematic error in mc is less than 0...

Microstrip patch antennas represent one family of compact antennas that offer a conformal nature and the capability of ready integration with communication system’s printed circuitry. In this project, a 2.4 GHz circular polarization microstrip antenna is designed, constructed and measured. The selected microstrip antenna is a dual –fed circular polarized microstrip antenna. The antenna consists...
