We report the crystal growth and structural magnetic properties of quasi two-dimensional $S=1/2$ quantum magnet Cu[C$_6$H$_2$(COO)$_4$][H$_3$N-(CH$_2$)$_2$-NH$_3$]$\cdot$3H$_2$O. It is found to crystallize in a monoclinic structure with space group $C2/m$. The CuO$_4$ plaquettes are connected into framework $ab$-plane through anions [C$_6$H$_2$(COO)$_4$]$^{4-}$ (pyromellitic acid). [H$_3$N-(CH$...

A novel hierarchical heterostructure of Ni microspheres-CuO nano-rices was fabricated using a simple two-step process. The CuO rices were densely deposited on the surfaces of Ni microspheres. The phase purity, morphology, and structure of composite heterostructures are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectros...

Mesoporous CuO-ZrO2 catalysts were prepared and calcined at 500 ̋C. The performance of the synthesized catalysts for benzylation of benzene using benzyl chloride was studied. The bare support (macroporous ZrO2) offered 45% benzyl chloride conversion after reaction time of 10 h at 75 ̋C. Significant increase in benzyl chloride conversion (98%) was observed after CuO loading (10 wt. %) on porous ...

The hollow CuO@SiO2 spheres with a mean diameter of 240 nm and a thin shell layer of about 30 nm in thickness was synthesized using an inorganic SiO2 shell coating on the surface of Cu@C composite that was prepared by a two-step hydrothermal method. The obtained hollow CuO@SiO2 spheres were characterized by ICP-AES, nitrogen adsorption-desorption, SEM, TEM, XRD, H2-TPR, CO-TPR, CO-TPD and NO-TP...

Various CuO nanostructures have been well studied as anode materials for lithium ion batteries (LIBs); however, there are few reports on the synthesis of porous CuO nanostructures used for anode materials, especially one-dimensional (1D) porous CuO. In this work, novel 1D highly porous CuO nanorods with tunable porous size were synthesized in large-quantities by a new, friendly, but very simple...

We demonstrate for 24 metal oxide (MOx) nanoparticles that it is possible to use conduction band energy levels to delineate their toxicological potential at cellular and whole animal levels. Among the materials, the overlap of conduction band energy (E(c)) levels with the cellular redox potential (-4.12 to -4.84 eV) was strongly correlated to the ability of Co(3)O(4), Cr(2)O(3), Ni(2)O(3), Mn(2...

Different cupric oxide (CuO) structures have attracted intensive interest because of their promising applications in various fields. In this study, three kinds of CuO structures, namely, CuO microdisks, CuO nanoblocks, and CuO microspheres, are synthesized by solution-based synthetic methods. The morphologies and crystal structures of these CuO structures are characterized by field-emission sca...

Metal oxide nanoparticles, such as copper oxide (CuO), are mass produced for use in a variety of products like coatings and ceramics. Acute exposure to CuO nanoparticles has caused toxicity to many aquatic organisms, yet there is no information on the effect of prolonged CuO nanomaterial exposures. This study examined effects of chronic exposure to CuO nanoparticles on Xenopus laevis growth and...

The photoactive features of the least common polymorph TiO2, i.e. brookite, were combined with thermocatalytic redox ones cerium oxide, focusing on effects addition small amounts Co-Cu oxides for solar CO2 conversion. By considering characterization data, a surface segregation hosted metal TiO2-CeO2 composite was evidenced, and their presence increased amount oxygen vacancies improved charge ca...

Nitrogen doped graphene hollow microspheres (NGHSs) have been used as the supports for the growth of the CoO nanoparticles. The nitrogen doped structure favors the nucleation and growth of the CoO nanoparticles and the CoO nanoparticles are mostly anchored on the quaternary nitrogen doped sites of the NGHSs with good monodispersity since the higher electron density of the quaternary nitrogen fa...
