Marine bacteria removed two diamines, putrescine and cadaverine, from coastal seawater supplemented only with these compounds. Batch cultures of natural bacterial communities were grown in filtered seawater (0.05 mum) supplemented with 500 mug of putrescine or cadaverine per liter. Increases in bacterial cell number were counted with an epifluorescence microscope after acridine orange staining....

Vicinal diamines constitute one the most important functional motif in organic chemistry because of its wide occurrence in a variety of biological and pharmaceutical molecules. We report an efficient metal-free, highly stereoselective intramolecular diamination using a novel chiral hypervalent iodine reagent together with its application as an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of diamines.

We have synthesized and tested a new binolaldehyde compound 1, against five diamine compounds. Using H NMR (400 MHz) spectroscopy, stable diasteriomeric imine complexes between 1 and five diamines were formed. Chemical shift nonequivalences (up to 0.058 ppm) were obtained for imines. Linear calibration plot was obtained for determining the enantiopurity of diamines.

The Cu(I)-catalyzed N,N'-diarylation of natural diamines and polyamines such as putrescine, cadaverine, spermine, spermidine and their homologues is described. Aryl iodides bearing electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups have been employed in the study. The CuI/2-(isobutyryl)cyclohexanone/DMF catalytic system has found to be more efficient in the diarylation of diamines and spermine w...

Thirteen aminoalcohols and eight diamines were obtained and tested against Trypanosoma cruzi epimastigotes strains MG, JEM and CL-B5 clone. Some of them were equal or more potent (1.0-6.6 times) than the reference compound nifurtimox. From them, three aminoalcohols and two diamines were selected for amastigotes assays. Compound 5 was as potent as the reference drug nifurtimox against amastigote...

[reaction: see text] (Trifluoroacetyl)azobenzene dyes were previously employed as amine reporter groups (chemosensors) in a dendrimer-based monomolecular imprinting system. Kinetic and binding studies with a range of amines and diamines show that the highly selective signaling observed for alkane diamines by these imprinted dendrimers arises from a kinetic effect due to intramolecular general b...

The relationships between the color intensities of polyimide films and the electronic properties of their source materials-aromatic diamines and aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides-are discussed. The arrangement of the diamine moieties in order of color intensity of polyimides shows fairly good agreement with the order of the electron-donating properties of the diamines estimated from 15N NMR...

ECL of several amines containing different numbers of hydroxyl and amino groups was investigated. N-butyldiethanolamine is found to be more effective than 2-(dibutylamino)ethanol at gold and platinum electrodes, and is the most effective coreactant reported until now. Surprisingly, ECL intensities of monoamines, such as 2-(dibutylamino)ethanol and N-butyldiethanolamine, are much stronger than t...

1,2-Diketones have been reacted in one-pot method with 1,2-diamines at room temperature with ZnO nanoparticles as a catalyst. ZnO nanoparticles as an available and reusable catalyst is used for the synthesis of Quinoxalinein improved yields.
