Combined with the GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) technology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) extends its abilities from static to dynamic working environment for urban drainage network. In this paper, a framework of Web-GIS for the urban drainage network management system is presented. This three-layer system framework is based on the J2EE technologies. The principles of data structur...
Climate change and urbanization are converging to challenge city drainage infrastructure due to their adverse impacts on precipitation extremes and the environment of urban areas. Sustainable drainage systems have gained growing public interest in recent years, as a result of its positive effects on water quality and quantity issues and additional recreational amenities perceived in the urban l...
In agricultural lands, high nutrient levels of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are very important due to the high need of plants. By improving the nutrient content of sodium soils, the fertility and growth of the plants improve. Accordingly, in order to investigate the effect of underground drainage on soil quality in Khuzestan region, this experiment was carried out in a completely randomiz...
geotextiles are one of the most widely used synthetic materials in filtration and drainage applications. since in real applications, geotextiles are subjected to various hydraulic gradients and confining stresses, hydraulic behavior of geotextiles under different circumstances is of great practical importance. in this study filtration and drainage properties of several nonwoven needle-punched g...
the momentum equation in the kinematic wave model is a power-law equation with two parameters. these parameters, which relate the discharge to the flow area, are commonly derived using manning’s equation. in general, the values of these parameters depend on the flow depth except for some special cross sections. in this paper, improved estimates of the kinematic wave parameters for circular chan...
The dramatic effect of flow through macropores and hardpan fissures on artificial drainage in shallow sloping soils is demonstrated. Implications of these preferential flow mechanisms on drainage design and water management are discussed. In designing drainage systems on these types of soils, more emphasis should be given to the characteristics of the hardpan.
