finding a representative fluid in a hydrocarbon reservoir is crucial for integrated reservoir management. in this study, a systematic approach for screening and selecting consistent fluid samples in a reservoir was developed. the model integrated quality control (qc) of well conditioning before sampling, qc of pvt data, thermodynamic modeling and compositional gradient within a reservoir. well ...

Net pay thickness is defined as that portion of a reservoir which contains economically producible hydrocarbons with today’s technology, prices, and costs. This thickness is a key parameter of the volumetric calculation of in-place hydrocarbons, well test interpretation, and reservoir characterization. A reservoir interval is considered as net pay when it contains hydrocarbons that can flow at ...

Gravitational loading or unloading due to deposition or erosion in sedimentary basins is one of the most common mechanisms responsible for abnormal fluid pressures in geologic formations. This paper examines the integrated response of fluid pressures to both deposition and erosion using vertical one-dimensional numerical models. The modeling results show that vertical loading and unloading of s...

Carbonate reservoirs rock typing plays a pivotal role in the construction of reservoir static models and volumetric calculations. The procedure for rock type determination starts with the determination of depositional and diagenetic rock types through petrographic studies of the thin sections prepared from core plugs and cuttings. In the second step of rock typing study, electrofacies are deter...

BACKGROUND Performance characteristics of novel rapid drug susceptibility tests (DST) for Mycobacterium tuberculosis may change when moving from research to implementation in actual public health practice. We describe the performance characteristics of a direct, rapid DST when implemented in Lima, Peru. METHODS A district laboratory validated conventional proportions and nitrate reductase met...

PURPOSE We investigated the number of test takers of the Korean-Developmental Screening Test (K-DST) in a single children's hospital within a year, according to age, referral rate, and follow-up percentage. METHODS For this study, 4,062 children who visited and received K-DST at Woorisoa Children's Hospital between January and December 2015 were enrolled. Seven test sets were used according t...

Pyrazinamide (PZA) is a key antituberculosis drug, yet no rapid susceptibility test is commercially available. PZA drug susceptibility testing (DST) was performed directly on sputum samples from 327 patients and compared with the indirect method by using the Bactec MGIT 960 system in the context of patient screening for participation in a drug trial. Compared to standard indirect PZA DST, direc...

The Dexamethasone Suppression Test (DST) has been evaluated as a biological marker in psychiatry especially in depressive illness. A study on the DST involving 20 patients in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore, who fulfilled the Research Diagnostic Criteria for major depressive disorder and with 21 healthy controls was carried out. Two out of the 20 patients had abnormal DST responses.

Several systematic studies have evaluated serial dexamethasone suppression tests (DST) in patients with major depression who were treated with antidepressant medications. DST changes were noted to parallel clinical improvement in most recovering patients. If serial DSTs are a valid state-related correlate of depressive pathophysiology, all types of effective antidepressant treatment should resu...
