Abstract. A pilot plant for treating 1,000m of textile dyeing wastewater per day with electron beam has constructed and operated continuously in Daegu, Korea since 1998. This plant is combined with biological treatment system and it shows the reduction of chemical reagent consumption, and also the reduction in retention time with the increase in removal efficiencies of CODCr and BOD5 up to 30~4...
Pseudomonas putida strain SJ3, which possesses caprolactam-degrading ability, was isolated from dyeing industry wastewater in Daegu, Republic of Korea. Here, we describe the draft genome sequence and annotation of the strain. The 5,596,765-bp-long genome contains 4,293 protein-coding genes and 68 RNA genes with 61.70% G+C content.
This paper evaluates the treatment of textile dyeing wastewater by using steel scrap as adsorbents and heterogeneous catalysts for Modified Fenton oxidation. The efficiency of the process was explored as a function of the experimental parameters: pH, hydrogen peroxide concentration and Steel scrap content. The composites with high steel scrap content were effective to adsorb colour and COD in t...
Since discharge limits are becoming stricter for industrial wastes, textile manufacturers are searching for 3fficient and economical methods of pollution reduction. This is typical of :he situation facing the textile ndustry, especially in the area of :olor pollution emitted into the zarth's waterways. Ozone treatment ;o remove color from wastewater :ould be a solution to the problem of
The white rot fungus Trametes versicolor was applied to the decolourisation of three synthetic textile dyes in the presence and absence of glucose. Different initial dye concentrations were tested and approximately 97% decolourisation was achieved. It was found that fungal metabolism induced by the glucose as well as the pH play an important role in the decolourisation process. This treatment w...
Anthocyanins are natural dye substances that provide attractive colors from red to blue. However, large quantities of Anthocyanins have been found in wastewater from soaked black beans, resulting in environmental pollution. The utilization of theses wastewaters would therefore be an effective way of reducing environmental pollution, and the water could be used to dye silk fabric, displaying...
Rapid industrialization and urbanization results in the discharge of large amounts of waste to the environment, which in turn creates more pollution (Senan and Abraham, 2004). Synthetic dyes are extensively used in textile dyeing, paper printing, color photography, pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics and other industries. During textile dyeing, the amount of dye lost in effluent is dependent upon t...
Pollutants in dye wastewater significantly vary due to the large number of dyes and other chemical compounds used in dyeing processes. The major compounds in dye wastewater are desizing and scouring agents, bleaches, reducing agents, detergents and wetting agents, finishing agents, organic acids and dyes, and fluorescent brighteners1). Physical, chemical and biological methods have been applied...
The objective of this project was to biologically renovate reactive dyebaths and reuse the high-salt containing mixture in the dyeing process. This approach accomplishes two goals: (a) elimination of the color from the plant effluent; and (b) reuse of the renovated process water and salts, thus leading to final wastewater volume reduction, and water, as well as salt conservation. Nine commercia...
Textile manufacturing consumes a considerable amount of water in its manufacturing processes. The water is primarily utilized in the dyeing and finishing operations of the textile establishments. Considering both the volume generated and the effluent composition, the textile industry wastewater is rated as the most polluting among all industrial sectors. In this study a combined anaerobic-aerob...
