A new species of Anthaxia Eschscholtz, 1829 endemic to Jordan, Anthaxia (Haplanthaxia) nabataea sp. nov., is described and illustrated. The new taxon is compared to its most similar species, and data about its distribution, bionomy and taxonomic position are given, together with some notes on the Anthaxia (Haplanthaxia) winkleri species-group.

Angiostrongylus costaricensis is a zoonotic parasitic nematode that causes abdominal or intestinal angiostrongyliasis in humans. It is endemic to the Americas. Although the mitochondrial genome of the Brazil taxon has been published, there is no available mitochondrial genome data on the Costa Rica taxon. We report here the complete mitochondrial genome of the Costa Rica taxon and its genetic d...

Patagonian collections of the corticioid genus Tomentellopsis have been treated in past as T. echinospora, a common northern hemisphere species. New with DNA sequence data are distinct from taxon and must be considered different species, endemic to temperate subantarctic forests Patagonia. We use molecular morphological methodologies study this new fungus describe it rosannae sp. nov.

A nomenclatural revision of the Santolina chamaecyparissus species complex is presented. detailed survey original material for all names applied to members was performed, and 28 are newly typified. The current usage S. villosa ericoides, relating some Spanish French populations, discussed. name a taxon endemic Spain, whereas ericoides those populations often traditionally referred villosa.

Taxon cycles are sequential phases of expansion and contraction of the ranges of species, associated generally with shifts in ecological distribution. The important contribution of the taxon cycle to biogeographical analysis is its emphasis on evolutionary and ecological interactions among colonizing and resident species, which influence their extinction dynamics and establish patterns of geogr...

We studied the taxonomy and biogeography of Mazama bricenii, a brocket deer classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN, drawing on qualitative and quantitative morphology and sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome-b gene. We used Ecological Niche Modeling (ENM) to evaluate the hypothesis that M. bricenii of the Venezuelan Cordillera de Mérida (CM) might have become isolated from populations of its...

Verbascum delphicum Boiss. & Heldr. subsp. cervi Zografidis (Scrophulariaceae, Scrophularieae) is described as a subspecies new to science and illustrated. It is narrowly distributed in the Greek National Park of Mt Parnitha (Attica, Greece) with a very small population size. The new subspecies is a seldom-collected taxon, previously overlooked and misidentified as consubspecific with the auton...

The genus Renilla is an interesting taxon for phylogenetic studies, which includes six species endemic to America with an anphiamerican distribution (Pacific–Atlantic Ocean). A cladistic analysis of Renilla Lamarck, 1816 using eight characters from external morphology produced one cladogram (length 14, CI = 0.92, RI = 0.87), and the characters were polarized using Echinoptilum macintoshii Hubre...

A new taxon Oncocnemis michaelorum srnkai Beshkov, ssp. n. is described from the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria. The subspecies, in comparison with other European members of confusa (Freyer, [1839]) species group, shows differences both outward appearance and female male genitalia, including everted vesica. a local endemic race, found three localities close to each ca. 30 km NW Sofia. It abundant t...

We present an assessment of the systematic status of populations currently assigned to Eremiascincusfasciolatus across Australia using morphological data. Our analyses show that these populations actually comprise four species: a large and robust, narrow-banded taxon from eastern Queensland and three slender, desert-dwelling taxa from the western, northern, and south-eastern Australian arid zon...
