Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) is an important cause of infantile diarrhea, especially in developing countries. EspB, a key virulence factor of EPEC, is required for the attaching and effacing effect characteristic of EPEC and enterohemorrhagic E. coli and has been posited to play several functions in the process of infection. Attaching and effacing activity is associated with the acc...
Several pathogenic bacteria are able to induce the attaching and effacing (A/E) lesion. The A/E lesion is caused by effector proteins, such as Escherichia coli-secreted protein B (EspB), responsible together with Escherichia coli-secreted protein D for forming a pore structure on the host cell, which allows the translocation of effector proteins. Different variants of this protein can be found ...
Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC), a leading cause of diarrhea among infants in developing countries, induces dramatic alterations in host cell architecture that depend on a type III secretion system. EspB, one of the proteins secreted and translocated to the host cytoplasm via this system, is required for numerous alterations in host cell structure and function. To determine the role of...
Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) was found to exhibit a type III secretion-dependent, contact-mediated, hemolytic activity requiring the EspA, EspB, and EspD secreted proteins. EspB and EspD display homology to pore-forming molecules. Our data suggest a mechanism to explain the requirement for all three Esp proteins in the transfer of EPEC proteins, such as Tir, into target cells.
AIM Endoluminal stenosis of proximal bronchi (ESPB) is a potentially severe manifestation of sarcoidosis. Unusual clinical presentation and variable response to medical treatment require specific attention to diagnosis and follow-up. DESIGN Of 2,500 patients with sarcoidosis seen at our institution, we retrospectively identified 18 patients with stage 1-3 sarcoidosis and ESPB. Clinical manife...
Background Pain control after surgery is of highest priority. Erector spinae plane block [ESPB] was reported to be a successful method reduce pain scores and consumption postoperative opioids. However, hardly any investigation has looked at the ideal volume bupivacaine for ESPB. So, this work tried fill gap literature in patients undergoing simple nephrectomy. Methods In randomized double blinde...
Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) uses the ESX-1 type VII secretion system to export virulence proteins across its lipid-rich cell wall, which helps permeabilize the host's macrophage phagosomal membrane, facilitating the escape and cell-to-cell spread of Mtb. ESX-1 membranolytic activity depends on a set of specialized secreted Esp proteins, the structure and specific roles of which are not cur...
Erector spinae plane block (ESPB) is a novel fascial that was first described in 2016. It considered an alternative for brachial plexus blocks shoulder surgeries as the erector muscle extends to cervical level. Herein, we present successful multilevel ESPB plus interscalene using liposomal bupivacaine 45-year-old female patient with metastatic sarcoma who presented scapula and proximal humerus ...
Escherichia coli O157:H7 is an important food-borne pathogen and cause of hemorrhagic colitis and hemolytic uremic syndrome in humans. Cattle are an important reservoir of E. coli O157:H7, in which the organism colonizes the intestinal tract and is shed in the feces. Vaccination of cattle has significant potential as a pre-harvest intervention strategy for E. coli O157:H7; however, basic inform...
