The Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) has been widely used as a tool for project management. In PERT analysis the activity time distribution is assumed to be a beta distribution, and the mean and variance of the activity time are estimated. The activity mean and variance are very useful to find the expected project duration and variance of the critical path. By generalizing the ass...

In order to have better insight of project characteristics, different kinds of fuzzy analysis for project networks have been recently proposed, most of which consider activities duration as the main and only source of imprecision and vagueness, but as it is usually experienced in real projects, the structure of the network is also subject to changes. In this paper we consider three types of i...

BACKGROUND Integrating newly developed tests and treatments for severe pulmonary embolism (PE) into clinical care requires coordinated multispecialty collaboration. To meet this need, we developed a new paradigm: a multidisciplinary Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT). In this report, we provide the first longitudinal analysis of patients treated by a PERT. METHODS Our PERT includes speci...

In this paper, we describe how a stochastic PERT network can be formulated as a Bayesian network. We approximate such PERT Bayesian network by mixtures of Gaussians hybrid Bayesian networks. Since there exists algorithms for solving mixtures of Gaussians hybrid Bayesian networks exactly, we can use these algorithms to make inferences in PERT Bayesian networks.

Background Pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) is widely applied to patients with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), but its effect and safety has not been quantified. Therefore we performed a meta-analysis to determine the efficacy and tolerance of PERT on patients with EPI. Materials and Methods PubMed, Medline, Cochrane library database, Evidence-based medicine/clinical tria...

This paper demonstrates the performance of PERT, a new TCP congestion control, for video streaming. PERT stands for Probabilistic Early Response TCP. As a delay based protocol, it measures the delay at the end host and adjusts the congestion window accordingly. As our NS-2 simulation results show, the late packet of the video streams are greatly decreased when applying PERT in heterogeneous env...

OBJECTIVE The benefits of pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) in chronic pancreatitis (CP) are inadequately defined. We have undertaken a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials of PERT to determine the efficacy of PERT in exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) from CP. DESIGN Major databases were searched from 1966 to 2015 inclusive. The primary outcome ...

Difficulties with the interpretation of the parameters of the beta distribution let Malcolm et al. (1959) to suggest in the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) their by now classical expressions for the mean and variance for activity completion for practical applications. In this note, we shall provide an alternative for the PERT variance expression addressing a concern raised by Hah...

In order to deal with imprecision inherent in the planning and scheduling of projects, various extensions of CPM (Critical Path Method) and PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique) have been proposed in the literature. The main aim of these studies has mainly been the application of Fuzzy Set Theory in the computation of activity start and completion dates, and consequently in the calcula...
