‎for a finite group $g$ let $nu(g)$ denote the number of conjugacy classes of non-normal subgroups of $g$‎. ‎the aim of this paper is to classify all the non-nilpotent groups with $nu(g)=3$‎.

‎let $g$ be a finite group and $nu(g)$ denote the number of conjugacy classes of non-normal subgroups of $g$‎. ‎in this paper‎, ‎all nilpotent groups $g$ with $nu(g)=3$ are classified‎.

‎Let G be a finite group and Z(G) be the center of G‎. ‎For a subset A of G‎, ‎we define kG(A)‎, ‎the number of conjugacy classes of G that intersect A non-trivially‎. ‎In this paper‎, ‎we verify the structure of all finite groups G which satisfy the property kG(G-Z(G))=5, and classify them‎.

‎Let $G$ be a finite group‎. ‎We say that the derived covering number of $G$ is finite if and only if there exists a positive integer $n$ such that $C^n=G'$ for all non-central conjugacy classes $C$ of $G$‎. ‎In this paper we characterize solvable groups $G$ in which the derived covering number is finite‎.‎

Let G ⊂ SL(n, C) be a finite subgroup and φ:Y → X = C/G any resolution of singularities of the quotient space. We prove that crepant exceptional prime divisors of Y correspond one-to-one with “junior” conjugacy classes of G. When n = 2 this is a version of the McKay correspondence (with irreducible representations of G replaced by conjugacy classes). In the case n = 3, a resolution with KY = 0 ...

Let G be an algebraic group of type G2 over a field k of characteristic 6= 2, 3. In this paper we calculate centralizers of semisimple elements in anisotropic G2. Using these, we show explicitly that there are six conjugacy classes of centralizers in the compact real form of G2. AMS Subject Classification: 20G20, 17A75.

Let G be a real compact connected simple Lie group, and g its Lie algebra. We study the problem of determining, from root data, when a sum of adjoint orbits in g, or a product of conjugacy classes in G, contains an open set. Our general methods allow us to determine exactly which sums of adjoint orbits in su(m) and products of conjugacy classes in SU(m) contain an open set, in terms of the high...

Let G be a finite group and H a normal subgroup such that G/H is cyclic. Given a conjugacy class g of G we define its centralizing subgroup to be HCG(g). Let K be such that H ≤ K ≤ G. We show that the G-conjugacy classes contained in K whose centralizing subgroup is K, are equally distributed between the cosets of H in K. The proof of this result is entirely elementary. As an application we fin...
