Traumatic interposition of a rotator cuff tendon in the glenohumeral joint without recognizable glenohumeral dislocation is an unusual complication after shoulder trauma. Here we report the clinical and imaging presentations of a 17-year-old man with trapped rotator cuff tendons in the glenohumeral joint after a bicycle accident. The possible trauma mechanism is also discussed.

Purpose: Most studies have examined the effect of stretching and strength exercises on the glenohumeral joint (shoulder joint), on the other hand, due to the importance of the relationship between core stability and pectoral girdle, especially in archery athletes, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of six weeks of core stability exercises on the glenohumeral joint internal rota...

The surgical repair of an extensive anterior glenohumeral soft tissue defect is complicated by glenohumeral instability and subsequent significant functional deficit. This surgical note offers a relatively simple reconstruction of the anterior capsule and subscapularis muscle using a pectoralis minor pedicle flap. This reconstruction is supplemented with functional reconstruction of the anterio...

BACKGROUND Persistent muscle imbalance and soft-tissue contractures can lead to progressive glenohumeral joint dysplasia in patients with brachial plexus birth palsy. The objective of the present investigation was to determine the effects of tendon transfers and open glenohumeral reduction on shoulder function and dysplasia in patients with preexisting joint deformity secondary to brachial plex...

STUDY DESIGN Cross-sectional. OBJECTIVES To compare differences in glenohumeral joint angular motion and linear translations between symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals during shoulder motion performed in 3 planes of humerothoracic elevation. BACKGROUND Numerous clinical theories have linked abnormal glenohumeral kinematics, including decreased glenohumeral external rotation and increa...

PURPOSE The objective of this investigation was to determine the effect of continuous cryotherapy on glenohumeral joint and subacromial space temperatures in the postoperative shoulder. TYPE OF STUDY Prospective, randomized, and controlled clinical trial. METHODS Twenty patients (10 cryotherapy, 10 controls) with a full-thickness rotator cuff repair were monitored with temperature sensors i...

[Purpose] This study investigated the effects of an end-range mobilization technique on the range of motion of the glenohumeral internal rotation and the skin temperature of the shoulder in individuals with posterior shoulder tightness. [Subjects] Thirteen subjects with posterior shoulder tightness who had glenohumeral internal rotation deficit ≥ 15° participated. [Methods] All subjects underwe...

A cadaver model was used to test the hypothesis that glenohumeral joint stability is independent of articular surface conformity after total shoulder arthroplasty. For the purposes of this study joint stability was defined as the minimum force required for joint dislocation. After arthroplasty components were implanted into fresh-frozen glenohumeral joints, specimens were mounted on a load fram...

Cadaveric specimens and patient radiographs were examined in order to establish the pattern and the distribution of degenerative alterations of the glenohumeral joint. Characteristic osseous changes occur in response to alterations in the articular cartilage and rotator cuff. The extent of these changes is underestimated by plain-film radiography. A strong association was found between the chan...

The aim of the study was to investigate if pushrim kinetics could be used as markers of glenohumeral joint demand during manual wheelchair accessibility activities; demonstrating a method of biomechanical analysis that could be used away from the laboratory. Propulsion forces, trunk and upper limb kinematics and surface electromyography were recorded during four propulsion tasks (level, 2.5% cr...
