Unicondylar fractures of the lower end of the femur are uncommon injuries that usually occur in the saggital plane 2. Coronal (tangential) plane fractures, first described by Hoffa in 1904, are unusual.(1,2, 3,4) We report our experience with three cases and the mechanism of injury is discussed. Open reduction and internal fixation is mandatory for good long-term results.

Hoffa fracture is a rare injury consisting of unicondylar tangential posterior fracture of the distal femur and only very few cases have been reported in the literature. These fractures are due to high energy trauma and conservative treatment generally yields poor results, but rigid internal fixation allows early functional rehabilitation and decreases the incidence of complications. The purpos...

Intraarticular coronal fracture of the femoral condyle is rare, and an isolated medial Hoffa fracture in a child is extremely rare. To our knowledge, such a case has not yet been reported in the literature. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment are essential for a good long-term outcome. We report a case of 12-year-old male who suffered a traffic accident and sustained an isolated medial Hoffa f...

INTRODUCTION An isolated coronal fracture of either or both femoral condyles is a rare entity and is usually associated with high-energy injury trauma. Such fractures should be meticulously fixed for a good functional outcome as they involve the articular surface of a weight bearing joint. A modified swashbuckler approach provides adequate exposure for appropriate reduction and fixation of such...

conclusions in our study, we treated this rare fracture successfully using a modified swashbuckler approach and found it to be a good approach for such fractures as compared to the conventional approach. case presentation a 32-year-old male sustained a bicondylar hoffa fracture of the right femur which was treated by open reduction and internal fixation using a modified swashbuckler approach. a...

Due to the low incidence of posteromedial tibial plateau fractures and limited clinical data available, optimal treatment for this type fracture remains be established. This fracture, also known as Hoffa-like plateau, shares a similar mechanism injury with Hoffa femoral condyle. In field orthopedics, finite element analysis is considered valuable method guide decision-making. study, four method...

Tumors of adipose Hoffa package are very uncommon, with isolated cases reported in the literature. His presentation in pediatric patients knee is exceptional. The most frequently described tumors are benign including vellonodular synovitis. The extra-articular localized variant there of is known as giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath. It is characterized by locally aggressive nature, and has ...
