The hypereosinophilic syndrome is a severe disease affecting multiple organ systems as the heart, skin, liver, spleen, urinary, gastrointestinal, nervous, and hematopoietic systems. The most important findings are eosinophilic infiltration and peripheral eosinophilic leukocytosis. Here, we report liver involvement and abdominal computed tomography (CT) and ultrasonography (US) characteristics o...

Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome is characterized by prolonged eosinophilia without an identifiable underlying cause and multiple-organ dysfunction, most frequently involving the heart, the central or peripheral nervous system and the lungs. We describe a case in which a patient with asthma who had idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome with pulmonary involvement presented with symptoms of ...

Hypereosinophilic syndrome has been reported to be associated with hepatic dysfunction; liver histology is mainly characterized by a diffuse eosinophilic inflammatory infiltrate. A 28-yr-old woman, affected by idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome with bone marrow and pulmonary eosinophilic infiltrates associated with peripheral eosinophilia, developed features of chronic hepatitis without a si...

Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome is characterized by elevated and prolonged blood eosinophilia along with organ system involvement and malfunction. The heart is the most frequently involved organ, and renal participation is extremely rare. Herein, we report on a case of idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome with renal involvement as the first manifestation.

This case describes a 42-year-old male affected by hypereosinophilic syndrome associated with angioimmunoblastic lymphoma. Heart involvement was suspected at ECG mimicking left ventricular hypertrophy. MRI clarified the extensive endomyocardial fibrosis, confirming the role of this technique in in-vivo tissue characterization. Finally, the study investigates the association of T cell lymphoma, ...

PURPOSE OF REVIEW Hypereosinophilic syndrome is increasingly recognized as a heterogeneous group of disorders, in some cases with precisely defined pathogenesis, which has led to changes in diagnostic approaches and therapeutic strategies. An update on causes and modern therapy is presented here. RECENT FINDINGS Clonal eosinophilias belong to the group of myeloid malignancies. Karyotypically ...

A case of childhood hemiplegia due to idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome is reported. There was no cardiac lesion. The neurological complications associated with hypereosinophilic syndrome and the pathophysiological mechanism of neurotoxicity of human eosinophils are discussed. It is likely that the neurological deficit was due to eosinophilic neurotoxicity.

Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) is a clinical disorder characterized by persistent eosinophilia and systemic involvement, in which a specific causative factor for the eosinophilia cannot be verified during a certain period of time. There have been only a few reported cases of this syndrome associated with malignant lymphoma. We report a case of peripheral T-cell lymphoma-unspecified with hyper...

A 31-year-old man presented with rapid onset of intractable congestive heart failure during the course of chemotherapy for eosinophilic leukemia. Patients with a hypereosinophilic syndrome usually die from complications of eosinophilic infiltration and fibrosis in target organs. The resulting cardiac lesions are a cause of death among these patients. Surgical intervention enabled our patient to...
