Three kinds of HZSM-5 nanoparticles with different acidity were tailored by impregnating MgO or varying Si/Al ratios. Both the textural and acidic properties of the as-prepared nanoparticles were characterized by nitrogen adsorption-desorption measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ammonia temperature-programmed desorption (NH3-TPD) and Fourier transform infr...

The formation of carbonaceous deposits (coke) in zeolite pores during catalysis leads to temporary deactivation of catalyst, necessitating regeneration steps, affecting throughput, and resulting in partial permanent loss of catalytic efficiency. Yet, even to date, the coke molecule distribution is quite challenging to study with high spatial resolution from surface to bulk of the catalyst parti...

A series of MCM-41 supported Ni catalysts with high metal dispersion was successfully synthesized by simple co-impregnation using proper ethylene glycol (EG). The acquired Ni-based catalysts performed the outstanding hydrogenolysis activity of guaiacol. The effects of the synthesis parameters including drying temperature, calcination temperature, and metal loading on the physical properties of ...

The photocatalytic decomposition of 2-, 3and 4-chlorobenzoic acids (2CB, 3CB and 4CB, respectively) with TiO2 loaded on HZSM-11 zeolite was investigated. The optimum decomposition rate of 2CB was obtained with TiO2/HZSM-11(30%) (TiO2 30 wt.%) catalyst at a concentration of 1 mg mL. 2CB and 3CB decompose at similar rates, but 4CB remains adsorbed on TiO2/HZSM-11(30%) without further degradation....

Graphene-encapsulated nickel nanoclusters are a feasible strategy to inhibit the deactivation of nickel-based catalysts. In this work, graphene-encapsulated catalysts (Ni@C/HZSM-5) were prepared by compression forming process, using pseudo-boehmite, Al2O3, and ZrO2 as binders. The pseudo-boehmite was gradually transformed from amorphous crystalline alumina at high temperatures, which destroyed ...

Introduction: Regarding the daily growth of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) application in a vast variety of industries which also contributed to their adverse effects, different methods were used for controlling their emission. One of the most effective methods for this purpose, is a combination of cold plasma and catalyst or photo catalyst. In this study, the effectiveness of the HZSM-5/ Ti...

Hydrolysis of ethyl acetate and starch in water and of cellulose in an ionic liquid by using HY and HZSM-5 solid acid catalysts are compared. In water, HZSM-5 is more active than HY. This trend is reversed in ionic liquid. Reactivity differences are explained based on interactions between solvent and catalyst acid site local environments, which depend on zeolite channel structure and Si/Al rati...

The catalytic degradation of chlorinated volatile organic compounds (CVOCs) at low temperatures is a great challenge. In this work, Pt-Co/HZSM-5 ternary catalysts were synthesized and used for the oxidation dichloromethane (DCM). By adding only trace amounts Pt (0.01 wt. %), catalyst exhibits better CO2 yield lower by-product than Co/HZSM-5 catalyst. Besides, it maintained stable activity least...

Ex situ catalytic pyrolysis of Citrus unshiu (C. unshiu) peel was performed using a tandem μ-reactor-GC/MS consisting of two sequential furnaces. The pyrolyzates of C. unshiu peel, composed mainly of alcohols, ketones and furans produced in the 1st furnace of the reactor, were upgraded to aromatics by the use of catalysts in the 2nd furnace. Compared to wood powder, C. unshiu peel produced larg...

The effects of process variables (temperature, space velocity, water addition and Si/Al ratio) on the conversion of acetone to aromatic chemicals have been investigated. The reaction is carried out by fixed bed reactor at an atmospheric pressure to examine the activity and selectivity of HZSM-5. The results show that HZSM-5 exhibited a high active and a shape-selective catalyst for the formatio...
