Carcinoid is a neuroendocrine neoplasm derived from primitive stem cells, occurring most frequently in the alimentary tract. Somatostatin-receptor scintigraphy with indium-111 pentetreotide is a sensitive and noninvasive technique for imaging carcinoid and its metastatic spread. However, nontumoral lesions such as sarcoidosis may also express somatostatin receptors, which may present a diagnost...

INTRODUCTION Mesothelin is expressed in many cancers, especially in mesothelioma and lung, pancreatic and ovarian cancers. In the present study, we evaluate (111)In labeled antimesothelin antibodies as an imaging bioprobe for the SPECT imaging of mesothelin-expressing tumors. METHODS We radiolabeled the antimesothelin antibodies mAbMB and mAbK1 with (111)In using the p-SCN-bn-DTPA chelator. T...

The synthesis and characterization of five new indium selenides, [C9H17N2]3[In5Se(8+x)(Se2)(1-x)] (1-2), [C6H12N2]4[C6H14N2]3[In10Se15(Se2)3] (3), [C6H14N2][(C6H12N2)2NaIn5Se9] (4) and [enH2][NH4][In7Se12] (5), are described. These materials were prepared under solvothermal conditions, using 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) as structure-directin...

Neuroendocrine tumours are characterised by the expression of high affinity binding sites for somatostatin. The detection of bronchial carcinoid tumours through scintigraphic imaging is described in two patients using the novel radiolabelled somatostatin analogue indium-111 pentetreotide.

High bandwidth, uncooled, Indium Arsenide (InAs) electron avalanche photodiodes (e-APDs) with unique and highly desirable characteristics are reported. The e-APDs exhibit a 3dB bandwidth of 3.5 GHz which, unlike that of conventional APDs, is shown not to reduce with increasing avalanche gain. Hence these InAs e-APDs demonstrate a characteristic of theoretically ideal electron only APDs, the abs...

We present a polarization shaping technique for few-cycle terahertz (THz) waves. For this, N femtosecond laser pulses are generated from a devised diffractive optical system made of as-many glass wedges, which then simultaneously illuminate on various angular positions of a sub-wavelength circular pattern of an indium arsenide thin film, to produce a THz wave of tailor-made polarization state g...

The photo-Hall technique has been used to investigate the properties of the InSb optical absorption band-edge. An accurate theoretical explanation of the linear absorption results is given, together with new data on the nonlinear aspects of the band-tail. A value of 1.1 x 10-18 for a has been calculated by monitoring the carrier generation during bistability.
