The immobilization of potassium sorbate, potassium aspartate and sorbic acid in layered double hydroxide under solid condition was examined. By simply mixing two solids, immobilization of sorbate and aspartate in the interlayer space of nitrate-type layered double hydroxide, so called intercalation reaction, was achieved, and the uptakes, that is, the amount of immobilized salts and the interla...

ft-sers (fourier transform surface enhanced raman scattering) of adriamycin and its complex with dna is reported. it is shown that in agreement with previous raman studies the interaction of adriamycin  with dna takes place through an intercalation mechanism. the presence of a new band at 731 cm-1 suggests that ring d of adriamycin is not involved in the intercalation process.

New materials with high intercalation capacity are needed for cathodic materials in order to overcome small capacities at high discharge rates in Li-ion batteries. High intercalation capacities have been reported in the experimental setup using iron phthalocyanine (FePc) as cathodic material; however the real intercalation capacity and the chemistry occurring during the intercalation process ar...

Dishevelled signaling plays a critical role in the control of cell intercalation during convergent extension in vertebrates. This study presents evidence that Dishevelled serves a similar function in the Ciona notochord. Embryos transgenic for mutant Dishevelled fail to elongate their tails, and notochord cells fail to intercalate, though notochord cell fates are unaffected. Analysis of mosaic ...

the angular dependent magnetoresistance oscillation (admro) of the stage-2 ibr graphiteintercalation compound (gic) was studied between 1.8 k and 110 k in magnetic fields between 1 and 9t. there was a series of peaks in the c-axis resistance as the field direction was changed from the c axisto the (001) plane. the field independence of the angular positions of the peaks, showing that theoscilla...

This article describes the solid-state chemistry of intercalation compounds that underpins a revolutionary new rechargeable lithium battery which has recently achieved phenomenal commercial success. The battery can store more than twice the energy compared with conventional alternatives of the same size and mass and holds the key to the future improvement of consumer electronic products (e.g. m...

ZnMg and NbCl5 were intercalated in graphite and the presence of such molecules between the graphene sheets results in nand p-type doping, respectively. The doping effect is confirmed by Hall and Raman measurements and the intercalation process is monitored by scanning tunneling microscopy. After intercalation the carrier concentration increase almost an order of magnitude and reaches values as...

Although it is well-known that TiO2 incorporation can greatly improve the cyclic stability of V2O5, the influences of TiO2 addition on the Li+ intercalation properties of V2O5 remain an issue of debate in literature. In this paper, we report on a systematic investigation of the preparation and intercalation properties of V2O5-TiO2 mixture films. The present work demonstrates that high Li+ inter...

Sentences in Dutch can be interrupted in various ways. We will use the term intercalation for interruptions by the speaker/writer that occur within the boundaries of a sentence without influencing this sentence (cf. de Groot 1949). The sentence (the host sentence or host) continues after the intercalation as if the intercalation were not there; the syntactic structure and the intonation pattern...

Nucleotide flipping is a common feature of DNA-modifying enzymes that allows access to target sites within duplex DNA. Structural studies have identified many intercalating amino acid side chains in a wide variety of enzymes, but the functional contribution of these intercalating residues is poorly understood. We used site-directed mutagenesis and transient kinetic approaches to dissect the ene...
