Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is used to treat a wide and growing range of problematic acute and chronic wounds. Continuous therapy delivered at -125 mm Hg has been routinely recommended, despite consistent research findings suggesting potential advantages to the use of lower pressures and intermittent therapy. To enhance understanding and document the disparity between the body of NPW...
The effects of intermittent negative pressure ventilation have been studied in 20 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease during an exacerbation of their disease. Measurements of arterial blood gas tensions and maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP) were performed before and after six hours of negative pressure ventilation or standard treatment (control day) given in random order on two...
Currently available research suggests that negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) creates a moist wound healing environment, drains exudate, reduces tissue edema, contracts the wound edges, mechanically stimulates the wound bed, and influences blood perfusion at the wound edge, which may lead to angiogenesis and the formation of granulation tissue. Although no clear evidence is available th...
We report the case of a 7 year old girl who developed central hypoventilation following pertussis and who was treated by negative pressure ventilation using a new portable tank respirator. We believe this is the first reported case of central hypoventilation following pertussis successfully treated by intermittent negative pressure ventilation.
OBJECTIVE Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is commonly used in the continuous mode. Intermittent pressure therapy (IPT) results in faster wound healing, but it often causes pain. Variable pressure therapy (VPT) has therefore been introduced to provide a smooth transition between 2 different pressure environments, thereby maintaining the negative pressure environment throughout the therapy...
Introduction: The purpose of this study was to predicting intermittent explosive disorder on the basis of aggression, negative emergency and alexithymia. Method: This research was a correctional descriptive study. The statistical population of this research includes all Prisoners of the central prison of Rasht city are in 2017. The sample consisted of 350 prisoners that were 175 people with in...
BACKGROUND Domiciliary assisted ventilation, using negative or positive pressure devices, is an effective treatment for respiratory failure due to chest wall deformity and neuromuscular disease. Negative pressure ventilators have been used with some success in patients with chronic obstructive lung disease in hospital, but attempts to continue treatment at home have been disappointing. This stu...
