In this article issues of the TRAPPER monitoring system for a T9000 processor are presented. Different strategies for its realization are discussed and a concrete implementation is presented. The monitoring system is a major component of the TRAPPER programming environment. TRAPPER is based on the programming model of communicating sequential processes and supports the programming of parallel ...

Studies were conducted in large arenas and simulated kitchens to compare the effectiveness of eight traps (seven sticky traps and one jar trap) and Þve attractants formonitoringGerman cockroaches (Blattella germanica L.). The evaluated traps were Trapper (type 9110Ð1), Catchmaster 150, 1001, and 2881, Victor-M330, Victor-M327, Glue board in D-Sect station, and a baby food jar trap. In choice te...

Gadget-2 is a massively parallel structure formation code for cosmological simulations. In this paper, we present a Java version of Gadget-2. We evaluated the performance of the Java version by running a colliding galaxy simulation and found that it can achieve around 70% of C Gadget-2’s performance.

Dersu Uzala (1975), directed by Akira Kurosawa, the renowned Japanese filmmaker, in conjunction with Russia’s Mosfilm Studios, presents a seemingly simple human drama played out in an uncharted area of Siberia. With a screenplay based on Vladimir Arseniev’s 1941 nonfiction account of his experience with a nomadic trapper, Dersu Uzala was Kurosawa’s second color movie and his first movie outside...

TRAPPER is a graphical programming environment which supports the development of parallel applications. The programming environment is based on the programming model of communicating sequential processes. TRAPPER contains tools for the design, mapping and visualization of parallel systems. The Designtool supports a hybrid program development, where the parallel process structure is described us...

The Message Passing Interface (MPI) standard continues to dominate the landscape of parallel computing as the de facto API for writing large-scale scientific applications. But the critics argue that it is a low-level API and harder to practice than shared memory approaches. This paper addresses the issue of programming productivity by proposing a high-level, easy-to-use, and efficient programmi...

In this paper, we describe a human-computer interface (HCI) system that includes an enabler for controlling gadgets based on signal analysis of brain activities transmitted from the enabler to the gadgets. The enabler is insertable in a user’s ear and includes a recorder that records brain signals. A processing unit of the system, which is inserted in a gadget, commands the gadget based on deco...

Source code analysis and inspection does not provide enough information to describe the structure of an objectoriented program completely because there are components and relations that only exist during its runtime. This paper presents a tool, called Gadget, that helps software engineers extract the dynamic structure of objectoriented programs written in the Java programming language. The tool...

Three studies were conducted to evaluate the feasibility of field peas as a protein source in diets for beef cattle. In the first study, 4 cultivars of field pea were incubated in situ to determine rate and extent of CP disappearance. Results indicate that field pea cultivars vary in CP content (22.6, 26.1, 22.6, and 19.4%, DM basis for Profi, Arvika, Carneval, and Trapper, respectively). Solub...

The whitepaper reports our investigation into the porting, optimization and subsequent performance of the astrophysics software package GADGET, on the Intel Xeon Phi. The GADGET code is intended for cosmological N-body/SPH simulations to solve a wide range of astrophysical tasks. The test cases within the project were simulations of galaxy systems. A performance analysis of the code was carried...
