We prove uniform existence results for the full Navier-Stokes equations for time intervals which are independent of the Mach number, the Reynolds number and the Péclet number. We consider general equations of state and we give an application for the low Mach number limit combustion problem introduced by Majda in [18].

Turbulent reacting flows are often met in industrial applications where many simulations have been performed, mostly concerning problems in practical devices. In turbulent combustion, fluid dynamics is strongly coupled with chemical kinetics. Actually turbulent stirring may enhance chemical reaction or may lead to local quenching. A better knowledge of these interactions is required both for a ...

A hybrid lattice Boltzmann/finite-difference solver for low Mach thermo-compressible flows developed in earlier works is extended to more realistic and challenging configurations involving turbulence complex geometries the present article. The major novelty here as compared previous contributions application of a robust collision operator, considerably extending stability original single relaxa...

We present a summary of recent progress on the development and application of adaptive mesh refinement algorithms for low Mach number reacting flows. Our approach uses a form of the low Mach number equations based on a general equation of state that discretely conserves both mass and energy. The discretization methodology is based on a robust projection formulation that accommodates large densi...

In astrophysics and meteorology there exist numerous situations where flows exhibit small velocities compared to the sound speed. To overcome the stringent timestep restrictions posed by the predominantly used explicit methods for integration in time the Euler (or Navier–Stokes) equations are usually replaced by modified versions. In astrophysics this is nearly exclusively the anelastic approxi...
