The purpose of this study was to elucidate a possible association between ectopic first molar eruption causing root resorption on the distal root of the primary maxillary second molar, and ectopic canine eruption causing root resorption on the permanent maxillary incisors. The subjects consisted of 30 patients, 22 females and eight males in the age range 8.3-15.0 years in whom root resorption o...
The study investigates the gender predictability of permanent maxillary first molar teeth. Mesio distal width of 30 permanent maxillary first molar teeth from casts of 15 male and 15 female patients between the age group of 1725 were measured. Results showed that permanent maxillary first molar tooth exhibited sexual dimorphism but accuracy of gender predictability was only moderate.
introduction: the complexity of the root canal system presents a challenge for the practitioner. this systematic review evaluated the papers published in the field of root canal anatomy and configuration of the root canal system in permanent maxillary second molars. methods and materials: all articles related to the root morphology and root canal anatomy of the permanent maxillary second molars...
introduction: ectopic tooth eruption may result owing to one of 3 processes: developmentaldisturbance, iatrogenic activity, or pathologic process, such as a tumor or a cyst. in rare cases, occlusion of the sinus ostia may predispose a patient to develop a maxillary sinus mucocele. when the maxillary sinus is invaded, symptoms usually occur late in the process. case report: a 17 years old boy ...
Iatrogenic tooth displacement is a rare complication during extraction of impacted molars, but displacement of a maxillary third molar into the maxillary sinus, infratemporal fossa, buccal space, pterygomandibular space, and lateral pharyngeal space has been reported. Currently, 6 published reports describe third molar displacement into the lateral pharyngeal space, only 1 of which involved the...
The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of expression and bilateralism of two dental morphological traits in contemporary Jordanians: The hypocone reduction trait on the maxillary second permanent molar and Carabelli's trait on maxillary permanent first and second molars. Furthermore, inter-trait correlation and the relationship of Carabelli's traits with upper first molar di...
AIM The purpose of this report is to present two cases of totally impacted maxillary deciduous molars, considered a rarity in dental practice. BACKGROUND Primary tooth impaction is quite rare during the development of primary dentition. Various factors contribute to the impaction of a deciduous tooth, including anklyosis, congenitally missing permanent teeth, defects in the periodontal membra...
Loss of the mandibular first molar often leads to the overeruption of the opposing maxillary first molar, resulting in occlusal interference, loss of periodontal bony support, and inadequate room to restore the mandibular edentulous space. Without orthodontic molar intrusion or segmental surgical impaction, restoring the posterior occlusion often entails the need for significant reduction of ma...
Thorough knowledge about the root canal variations is essential for the predictable endodontic treatment outcome. The root and root canal anatomy of maxillary first molar varies greatly. A Pub-med literature search about single rooted single canalled maxillary first molar was done to know its details such as incidence, diagnostic method used, age, sex and ethnic background of patient. This arti...
The C shaped canal configuration is an anatomic variant most commonly seen in mandibular second molars. The presence of this configuration in a single rooted maxillary permanent first molar is rare. This case report describes the endodontic management of a single rooted infected maxillary first molar having a c shaped root canal configuration. Endodontic Treatment of Single Rooted Maxillary Fir...
