INTRODUCTION The Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory (MFI) is commonly used in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). However, most measurement properties have not been investigated in this population. The aim of this study was to investigate internal consistency, test-retest reliability, measurement error, structural validity, and floor and ceiling effects of the MFI in PD. METHODS Patients ...
The myofibril fragmentation index (MFI) is strongly associated with indices of meat tenderness, such as Warner-Bratzler shear force and sensory tenderness. The MFI is normally determined on fresh muscle. It is not known whether this index can be determined on frozen muscle. The objective of this experiment was, therefore, to determine whether there is a difference between MFI values of fresh an...
BACKGROUND The Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory (MFI-20) was developed in 1995. Since then, it has been widely used in cancer research and cancer-related illnesses but has never been validated in fatiguing illnesses or in a large US population-selected sample. In this study, we sought to examine the reliability and validity of the MFI-20 in the population of the state of Georgia, USA. Further...
BACKGROUND Hemodialysis (HD) with ultrafiltration (UF) in chronic renal replacement therapy is associated with hemodynamic instability, morbidity and mortality. Sublingual Sidestream Dark Field (SDF) imaging during HD revealed reductions in microcirculatory blood flow (MFI). This study aims to determine underlying mechanisms. METHODS The study was performed in the Medical Centre Leeuwarden an...
The catalytic pyrolysis of Laminaria japonica was carried out over a hierarchical meso-MFI zeolite (Meso-MFI) and nanoporous Al-MCM-48 using pyrolysis gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS). The effect of the catalyst type on the product distribution and chemical composition of the bio-oil was examined using Py-GC/MS. The Meso-MFI exhibited a higher activity in deoxygenation and aromat...
Two-dimensional zeolite nanosheets that do not contain any organic structure-directing agents were prepared from a multilamellar MFI (ML-MFI) zeolite. ML-MFI was first exfoliated by melt compounding and then detemplated by treatment with a mixture of H2 SO4 and H2 O2 (piranha solution). The obtained OSDA-free MFI nanosheets disperse well in water and can be used for coating applications. Deposi...
BACKGROUND Frailty is described as decreased physiological reserve and typically increasing with age. Hospitals are being penalized for reoperations and readmissions, which can affect reimbursement. The purpose of this study was to determine if the modified frailty index (MFI) could be used as a risk assessment tool for preoperative counseling and to make an objective decision on whether to per...
Twin growth in the synthesis of b-oriented MFI films is successfully suppressed by applying microwave irradiation on a b-oriented MFI seed layer, relying on the nucleation-related bottleneck effect. Electrochemical oxidation experiments demonstrated the importance of twin suppression in enhancing the diffusion of guest molecules in MFI films.
For the first time, we report the C4s’ transport properties: solubility, diffusivity, permeability in 6FDA–DAM polymer, one of most permeable glassy polymers with significant nC4 vs. iC4 selectivity. An nC4 permeability of 3.7 Barrer, and nC4/iC4 ideal selectivity of 21 was found in pure 6FDA–DAM polymer membrane. Mixed matrix films were successfully fabricated using a 6FDA–DAM as the matrix, w...
A melt flow indexer (MFI) was used to investigate high-temperature transitions in melts of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The MFI data were obtained in the range 190–230°C. These transitions were found in the MFI at about 210 and 225°C and reproduced in a Haake melt blender. Polystyrene was used in the blender experiment to demonstrate typical amorphous behavior. For HDPE melts, the MFI–temp...
