A new generalized transmission-line theory is presented to treat multiconductor as well as antenna systems. Maxwell’s equations are cast into the form of classical telegrapher’s equations. Two quite different examples are calculated to illustrate the wide use of this theory.

Transmission line theory and a genetic algorithm are used herein for extracting per-unitlength parameters of microstrip or striplines with dispersive dielectric substrates. S-parameters of the line section are measured and used as an objective function for global optimization. The discrepancy between the modeled and measured results is minimized over all the frequency range of interest. Wave eq...

A neural network approach is proposed for the characterization of twisted wire bundles multiconductor transmission lines. The neural network is suitably trained with few cross section configurations to learn the behavior of the per unit length parameters of the nonuniform bundle. The procedure allows a fast characterization of the nonuniform bundles multiconductor transmission lines.

Systems are considered consisting of an arbitrary number of multiconductor transmission lines joined and terminated by arbitrary linear networks. The fines are assumed to be Iossy, with frequency-dependent parameters. The system is analyzed in the frequency domain, and the inverse Fourier transform is used to obtain tbe time-domain response.

Starting with Maxwell's equations, the transmission line equations are derived for a system consisting of an arbitrary number of conductors. The derivation is rigorous for long lossless conductors embedded in a uniform perfect dielectric. The presentation is essentially tutorial, most of the results being well known, at least for twoand three-conductor systems. The novelty lies in the point of ...

In this paper, an accurate modeling procedure for GaAs MESFET as active coupled transmission line is presented. This model can consider the effect of wave propagation along the device electrodes. In this modeling technique the active multiconductor transmission line (AMTL) equations are obtained, which satisfy the TEM wave propagation along the GaAs MESFET electrodes. This modeling procedure is...

This paper introduces a novel algorithm for delay extraction-based passive macromodeling of multiconductor transmission line type interconnects characterized by multiport (Y, Z, S, or H) tabulated parameters. The algorithm determines a unique logarithm of the H parameters, which is then approximated using a low-order rational function. Subsequently, the DEPACT (delay extractionbased passive com...

The available analytic solutions for a periodic array of symmetric in-line wave launchers have been used in characterizing the high-frequency ● propagation along the launchers. These analytic solutions are based on a high-frequency asymptotic formulation of the multiconductor transmission-line equations. In particular, a family of curves that permit a desired highfrequency voltage transfer rati...

This article describes a time-domain transmission line model based on distributed parameters for transient analysis. This model is based directly on the differential equations for the basic transmission line without any previous simplification. The solution presented here for these differential equations results in a more detailed time-domain model than others models currently in use, and with ...
