Mycobacterium tuberculosis rapidly reduces nitrate, leading to the accumulation of nitrite. This characteristic served for the past 40 years to differentiate M. tuberculosis from other members of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC), such as Mycobacterium bovis (non-BCG [referred to here as simply "M. bovis"]), Mycobacterium bovis BCG, Mycobacterium africanum, or Mycobacterium microti....

It has previously been shown that the PAN promoter from Mycobacterium paratuberculosis can be used as a DNA probe to identify an RFLP between wild-type Mycobacterium bovis and the vaccine strain Mycobacterium bovis BCG. To investigate the genetic basis of this phenomenon, DNA fragments from a New Zealand M. bovis cattle strain and M. bovis BCG Pasteur, containing the PAN-binding region, were is...

in this work, we reported the synthesis and evaluation of antimycobacterial and antifungalactivity of a series of thiocarbohydrazone derivatives which are thiacetazone congeners. thetarget compounds were synthesized in superior yields by reacting thiocarbohydrazide withdifferent aromatic aldehydes and methyl ketones. compounds 8, 19 and 25 were found to bethe most potent derivatives, exhibiting...

The structure and distribution of a Mycobacterium bovis BCG insertion element of the IS21 family were investigated. Several IS21-like elements found in mycobacterial genomes were separated in four types, following their nucleic acid similarities. The M. bovis BCG IS21 element is highly similar to IS1533 (class I), 70% similar to IS1534 (class II), 52% similar to IS1532 (class III) of Mycobacter...

Mycobacterium bovis strain AN5 has been used to produce purified protein derivative (PPD) for the intradermal test for bovine tuberculosis since it was introduced in 1948. This work reports the draft genome sequence of M. bovis AN5, which is used for the production of bovine PPD in Brazil, as well as comparisons to other strains of M. bovis and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Profile analysis of mycolic acid ester patterns of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium bovis, and Mycobacterium bovis bacillus Calmette-Gúerin (BCG) using high-performance liquid chromatography indicated that separation of BCG from M. tuberculosis and M. bovis by elution and relative retention times is possible. Mycolic acid patterns of BCG eluted from the column 0.5 min before M. tubercu...

at present, most of iran is free of bovine tuberculosis (tb). the strategy of control and eradication in iran involves a tuberculation test and slaughter of reactors, a procedure transformed the present-day prevalence of tb into a sporadic occurrence. this paper describes the first report of bovine tuberculosis in a european fallow deer ( dama dama dama ) in iran. the deer was emaciated and fou...

PhoP is part of the two-component PhoPR system that regulates expression virulence genes Mycobacteria. The goal this work was to elucidate role in mechanism Mycobacterium bovis, causative agent bovine tuberculosis, displays upon stress. An analysis gene and acidic growth curves indicated M. bovis neutralized external environment by inducing secreting ammonia. We found essential for ammonia prod...

Tuberculosis (TB) is a zoonotic infectious disease common to humans and animals which has been caused by a rod shaped, acid fast bacterium, called Mycobacterium bovis. The rapid and sensitive detection is a great challenge for TB diagnosis. The virulent strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) have 16 different regions of difference (RD) in their genome which encode some important a...
