To identify tick-borne pathogens in blood samples from 68 dogs were examined for Babesia, Anaplasma/Ehrichia, Mycoplasma, and Hepatozoon spp. by using a molecular tool. The detection of DNA was performed using specific primers for partial 16S rRNA or 18S rRNA sequence, and amplicon sequences were analyzed. Our investigation detected Babesia gibsoni (26 dogs) and Anaplasma sp. AnHl446 (2 dogs), ...

Mycoplasmas are fastidious slow growing organisms lacking a cell wall and mostly isolated from the mucosal surfaces of the respiratory and genitourinary tracts. There is a dearth of information regarding clinical Mycoplasma spp. isolates among Egyptian patients. A total of 170 samples were collected from patients and apparently healthy personnel in local public hospitals in Cairo, Egypt. Isolat...

We examined the blood of 94 North American Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) patients using forensic polymerase chain reaction and found that a subset (10.6%) of CFS patients show evidence of Brucella spp. infections compared to one of 70 control subjects (Odds Ratio = 8.2, Confidence Limits 1-66, P<0.01). Rural patients showed a higher incidence of Brucella spp. infections over urban patients (OR...

I n a survey of pneumonia due to Mycoplasma 282 out of 12168 ovine and caprine lung condemnation were collected (2.32%). Mycoplasma spp. has been isolated from pneumonic cases in 4 sheep and 2 goats. PCR studies were confirmed the genus of Mycoplasma although attempting for identification of strains M. mycoides, M. capricolum/caprine pleuropneumonia and M. arginin were in failure. The lesions...

There are multiple blood-borne infections in cats. Many are transmitted by fleas or ticks. The organisms recognized most frequently in feline practice are Bartonella spp., Mycoplasma haemofelis, “Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum,” “Candidatus M. turicensis,” Rickettsia rickettsii, R. felis, E. canis-like organism, Anaplasma phagocytophilum, and Cytauxzoon felis. Bartonella spp. infections are...

A major surface antigenic lipoprotein of Mycoplasma agalactiae, promptly recognized by the host's immune system, was characterized. The mature product, P48, showed significant similarity and shared conserved amino acid motifs with lipoproteins or predicted lipoproteins from Mycoplasma fermentans, Mycoplasma hyorhinis, relapsing fever Borrelia spp., Bacillus subtilis, and Treponema pallidum.

Background: Mycoplasma is one of the most important pathogens of respiratory system in poultry. OBJECTIVES: The aim of the present study was to identify Mycoplasma spp. isolated from pigeons. METHODS: Sixteen pooled samples were provided and cultured on PPLO medium and finally the DNA was extracted from the resulting single colonies. RESULTS: Through 16S rRNA gene amplification Mycoplasma genus...

Peptide deformylase inhibitor LBM-415 and seven other drugs were tested against Mycoplasma pneumoniae (100 isolates), Mycoplasma hominis (20 isolates), Mycoplasma fermentans (10 isolates), and Ureaplasma species (50 isolates). LBM-415 was active against M. pneumoniae (MICs, <or=0.008 microg/ml). It showed no activity against M. hominis and M. fermentans and modest activity against Ureaplasma spp.

Ehrlichia ewingii, Anaplasma phogocytophilum and hemotropic Mycoplasma spp. are three bacteria which can infect different dog’s blood cells. All of these three pathogens can be transmitted by different ticks and some reservoir hosts also play a role in their transmission. Although E. ewingii and A. phagocytophilum infect granulocytes and neutrophils of their hosts, respectively, hemotropic Myco...
