The One Class Classification (OCC) problem is different from the conventional binary/multi-class classification problem in the sense that in OCC, the negative class is either not present or not properly sampled. The problem of classifying positive (or target) cases in the absence of appropriately-characterized negative cases (or outliers) has gained increasing attention in recent years. Researc...

BACKGROUND Except for early T1,2 N0 stages, the prognosis for patients with oral cavity cancer (OCC) is reported to be worse than for carcinoma in other sites of the head and neck (HNC). The aim of this work was to assess disease outcome in OCC following IMRT.Between January 2002 and January 2007, 346 HNC patients have been treated with curative intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) at t...

BACKGROUND The incidence of oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) and a subset of oral cavity cancer (OCC) is increasing in the United States. To the authors' knowledge, the presumed growing prevalence of survivors of OPC and OCC has not been investigated to date. METHODS Retrospective analysis of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results data (1975-2012) estimated changes in incidence, 5-year cause-s...

Previous research has shown that oocyte cumulus complex (OCC) pickup rate is inhibited in hamsters when oviducts and OCCs are simultaneously exposed to cigarette smoke solutions, independent of any effect on ciliary beat frequency. The purpose of this research was to determine whether smoke solutions caused a change in adhesion between the OCC and infundibulum of the oviduct and to determine wh...

Objectives: Mental health organizations are strongly encouraged to implement empirically supported treatments (ESTs), however little is known about their working environments. The present study investigated how provider demographics, workplace environment and whether ESTs were used affected the worker morale. Methods: Front-line workers (N = 1,273) from 55 different programs in a single, large ...

Orthogonal Cross Cylinder (OCC) is an object created by intersecting the cylinder of Y-axis and the cylinder of the Z-axis. OCC mapping is a new method for effectively mapping the environment. This method eliminates the singularity effect caused in the environment maps and shows an almost even amount of area for the environment occupied by a single texel. The surrounding environment can also be...

BACKGROUND Even though oral cavity cancer (OCC; ICD 10 codes C01, C02, C03, C04, C05, and C06) ranks eleventh among the world's most common cancers, accounting for approximately 2 % of all cancers, a trend analysis of OCC in Hong Kong is lacking. Hong Kong has experienced rapid economic growth with socio-cultural and environmental change after the Second World War. This together with the collec...

This study was performed to investigate the significance of gastric juice analysis (GJA) as a diagnostic criterion of a positive challenge in a standard oral cow's milk challenge (OCC) to confirm typical cow's milk protein-induced enterocolitis (CMPIE). Data from 16 CMPIE patients (aged 14 to 44 days) were analyzed. A standard OCC was openly executed using 0.15 g/kg of protein. Three symptoms (...

Emotions play a central role in most forms of natural human interaction so we may expect that computational methods for the processing and expression of emotions will play a growing role in human-computer interaction. The OCC model has established itself as the standard model for emotion synthesis. A large number of studies employed the OCC model to generate emotions for their embodied characte...

Although popular among computer scientists, the OCCmodel of emotions contains a number of ambiguities that stand in the way of a truthful formalization or implementation. This paper aims to identify and clarify several of these ambiguities. Furthermore, a new inheritance-based view of the logical structure of emotions of the OCC model is proposed and discussed.
