According to the Titus-Bode law, orbits of planets in the solar system obey a geometric progression. Many investigations have been launched to improve this law. In this paper, we apply square and exponential models to planets of solar system, moons of planets, and some extra solar systems, and compare them with each other.

It is well known that the time average or the center of mass for generic orbits of the standard tent map is 0.5. In this paper we show some interesting properties of the exceptional orbits, including periodic orbits, orbits without mass center, and orbits with mass centers different from 0.5. We prove that for any positive integer n, there exist n distinct periodic orbits for the standard tent ...

We study the two main types of trajectories of the ABC flow in the near-integrable regime: spiral orbits and edge orbits. The former are helical orbits which are perturbations of similar orbits that exist in the integrable regime, while the latter exist only in the non-integrable regime. We prove existence of ballistic (i.e., linearly growing) spiral orbits by using the contraction mapping prin...

We examine a large random sample of orbits in self-consistent simulations of N-body bars. Orbits in the bars are classified both visually and with a new automated orbit classification method based on frequency analysis. The well known prograde x1 orbit family originates from the same parent orbit as the box orbits in stationary and rotating triaxial ellipsoids. However only a small fraction of ...

This paper gives a theoretical discussion of the orbits and isotropies which arise in a space-time which admits a Lie algebra of Killing vector fields. The submanifold structure of the orbits is explored together with their induced Killing vector structure. A general decomposition of a space-time in terms of the nature and dimension of its orbits is given and the concept of stability and instab...

I will consider dynamics near multiple homoclinic orbits to saddles in conservative and reversible flows. Suppose the system has two homoclinic orbits in the bellows configuration, where the homoclinic orbits approach the equilibrium along the same direction for positive and negative times. In conservative systems one finds one parameter families of suspended horseshoes, parameterized by the le...

We study the forms of the orbits in a symmetric configuration of a realistic model of the H(2)O molecule with particular emphasis on the periodic orbits. We use an appropriate Poincare surface of section (PSS) and study the distribution of the orbits on this PSS for various energies. We find both ordered and chaotic orbits. The proportion of ordered orbits is almost 100% for small energies, but...
