Geological models of subduction zones impact thinking about many of the central problems in the structure, dynamics, chemistry, and history of the solid earth. Should those models change, the effects will reach across the earth sciences. We are currently in the midst of such a change, brought on by several causes. First, the earth science community recently began an organized, multi-disciplinar...
This paper deals with on the continuity of solution to Minkowski problem for Lp torsional measure. For p ? (1, n + 2) (n 2,?), we show that a sequence convex bodies in Rn is convergent Hausdorff metric if measures (associated these bodies) weakly convergent. Moreover, also prove measure continuous respect p.

Given a weakly convergent sequence of positive functions in W 1,p 0 (Ω), we prove the equivalence between its convergence in the sense of obstacles and the lower semicontinuity of the term by term duality product associated to (the p-Laplacian of) weakly convergent sequences of p-superharmonic functions of W 1,p 0 (Ω). This result implicitly gives new characterizations for both the convergence ...
First, we recall some notations and definitions which will be used throughout the paper (cf. [12]). A double sequence x = (xjk) of real or complex numbers is said to be bounded if ‖x‖∞ = supj,k |xjk| < ∞. We denote the space of all bounded double sequences by L. A double sequence x = (xjk) is said to converge to the limit L in Pringsheims sense (shortly, p-convergent to L) if for every ε > 0 th...
A recent study reveals that the propagation of intercellular calcium signals is closely associated with the generation of convergent extension movements during Xenopus gastrulation. Such signals provide a mechanism whereby large populations of cells can communicate to generate orchestrated cell movements.
In order to analyze the singularities of a power series P (t) on the boundary of its convergent disc, we introduced the space Ω(P ) of opposite power series in the opposite variable s=1/t, where P (t) was, mainly, the growth function (Poincaré series) for a finitely generated group or a monoid [S1]. In the present paper, forgetting about that geometric or combinatorial background, we study the ...
In one of his fi rst papers, Thomas Kuhn ( 1959 ) addressed the “essential tension” implicit in scientifi c research, i.e., the contrast between convergent and divergent thinking. He considered both to be central to the advance of science. Convergent thinking is what scientists do in their daily “normal research projects,” where the “scientist is not an innovator but a solver of puzzles, and th...
Epithelial cells frequently display--in addition to the common apical-basolateral polarity--a polarization within the plane of the epithelium. This is commonly referred to as planar cell polarity (PCP) or tissue polarity. Examples of vertebrate PCP include epithelial patterning in the skin and inner ear, and also the morphogenetic movements of mesenchymal cells during convergent extension at ga...
In this paper, we present a new path-following interior-point algorithm for -horizontal linear complementarity problems (HLCPs). The algorithm uses only full-Newton steps which has the advantage that no line searchs are needed. Moreover, we obtain the currently best known iteration bound for the algorithm with small-update method, namely, , which is as good as the linear analogue.
