conclusion determination of colonized bacteria in oropharynx of healthy children and relationship between them can be helpful to find the ways to interfere with their colonization and prevention of diseases due to them. materials and methods the colonized bacteria in oropharynx of 296 children between 2-6 years old from 7 day care centers of tehran were isolated and determined by specific diagn...

Colonization factor antigens (CFAs) of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) have been classified into several groups based on their distinct antigenicity. We describe here a PCR-based method to detect common CFAs of ETEC, which were characterized using conventional serology. This PCR assay is simple and sensitive for the detection of expressed CFA genes.

Myiasis is a disease of vertebrate animals caused by different fly larvae. Wohlfahrtia magnifica is responsible for serious losses in animal husbandry in Eurasia. Larvae of W. magnifica parasitize several warm-blooded vertebrates and are responsible for a severe traumatic myiasis of mucosal membranes or wounds. This myiasis has been reported in many European areas, but for the first time was re...

The objective of this study was to evaluate the toxic, analgesic and clinical effects associated with intrathecal administration of propofol in sheep. Five, healthy adult non-pregnant Awassi sheep were used in the study. Propofol (2.85 mg/kg; n = 4) or normal saline (control, n = 1) was administered into the subarachnoid space at the lumbosacral intervertebral junction. Animals were assessed cl...

Enrichment of cell suspension with germ cells prior to injection into recipient seminiferous tubules is of importance in spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) transplantation. Knock-out serum replacement (KSR) has been reported to enhance the proliferation of murine SSCs and human embryonic stem cells. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of KSR versus fetal bovine serum (FBS) ...

Koch et al. (2014) extend longitudinal models of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) for multitrait-multimethod (MTMM) data (e.g., Geiser and Lockhart, 2012) to accommodate different sorts of methods, that is, structurally different and interchangeable methods. While structurally different methods conform to sampling schemes in which each target (e.g., individual employee) is linked to a unique ...

Background: Fungal infections with high morbidity and mortality in neonatal intensive care unit are usually preceded by colonization. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of fungal colonization, determine the risk factors and health outcome such as any change in the patient's improvement in hospitalized infants of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). <e...

Immunological heterogeneity has long been the major challenge in developing broadly effective vaccines to protect humans and animals against bacterial and viral infections. Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) strains, the leading bacterial cause of diarrhea in humans, express at least 23 immunologically different colonization factor antigens (CFAs) and two distinct enterotoxins [heat-labile...

group b streptococcus (gbs) is one of the most important bacteria in the majority of maternal and neonatal infections, such as chorioamnionitis, endometritis, bacteremia, sepsis and meningitis. during pregnancy, gbs screening is one of the recommended strategies that are recommended by center of disease control (cdc). this study was aimed to determine the rectovaginal colonization prevalence am...
