we report the delayed eruption and infraocclusion of a mandibular second primary molar with ectopic location of the permanent successor. this was a rare case where the second premolar was located to the distal side of the impacted mandibular second primary molar. early intervention is recommended to manage orofacial disfigurement and prevent consequent problems.
introduction : the aim of this quantitative systematic review/meta-analysis was to compare the treatment outcomes of mineral trioxide aggregate (mta) and calcium hydroxide (ch) in pulpotomy of human primary molars. the focused pico question was “in case of pulp exposure in vital primary molars, how does mta pulpotomy compare to ch in terms of clinical/radiographic success?” methods and material...
The case of an immature natal maxillary first primary molar is reported. Natal molars are rare occurrences, the present instance being only the eighteenth reported case. Clinical and histologic examination revealed that the tooth was rootless, incompletely mineralized, and acutely inflamed. Subsequent radiographs showed that the tooth was actually the primary first molar.
introduction: the aim of this trial was to compare clinical and radiographic success rates of direct pulp capping (dpc) using a novel biomaterial called calcium enriched mixture (cem) cement versus mineral trioxide aggregate (mta) in primary molar teeth. materials and methods: in this randomized clinical trial 42 deciduous molars in 21 patients who had at least two teeth requiring dpc, were tre...
A fully bonded m~dtiloop wire appliance for the correction of ectopically erupting permanent molars is described. The appliance allows control in the anteroposterior, vertical, and transverse planes. Ectopically erupting first permanent molars are seen in about 3% of the population.~,2 Sixty-six per cent of ectopically erupting maxillary first permanent molars self-correct by jumping over the i...
In subjects with agenesis of the second mandibular premolar teeth, the primary molar may be left in situ. The long-term prognosis of a retained primary molar has not been established in any study that included large number of patients. The aim of this investigation was to monitor the survival of retained mandibular second primary molars, from 12-13 years of age to adulthood. The material compri...
Background and Aims: The structural distinction of primary teeth compared to the permanent teeth leads to a faster penetration of the caries into the pulp, which makes effective treatment necessary. The aim of this study was to determine the success rate of pulpotomy in primary molar teeth and its effective factors using formocresol by students and residents at the department of pediatric denti...
Background: To evaluate the prevalence of dental ankylosis in primary molar. Materials & Methods: A total 50 molars were enrolled. The age patients was 6 to 10 years. 18 girls and boys. Radiographic examination done. diagnosis informed by presence different degrees infraocclusion appearance adjacent bone (The loss periodontal space). ankylosed tooth compared with corresponding molar opposite qu...
