We consider the production of a lepton-antilepton pair by real photons off a hadronic target. The interference of one and two photon exchange amplitudes leads to a charge asymmetry term that may be calculated explicitly in the large-t limit in terms of hadronic distribution amplitudes. A rather compact expression emerges for the leading order asymmetry at fixed angle in the centre-of-mass of th...

We present methods that introduce concepts from Rosenbluth sampling [M. N. Rosenbluth and A. W. Rosenbluth, J. Chem. Phys. 23, 356 (1955)] into the Jarzynski nonequilibrium work (NEW) free-energy calculation technique [C. Jarzynski, Phys. Rev. Lett. 78, 2690 (1997)]. The proposed hybrid modifies the way steps are taken in the NEW process. With it, each step is selected from a range of alternati...

Zonal flow helps reduce and regulate the turbulent transport level in tokamaks. Rosenbluth and Hinton have shown that zonal flow damps to a nonvanishing residual level in collisionless M. Rosenbluth and F. Hinton, Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, 724 1998 and collisional F. Hinton and M. Rosenbluth, Plasma Phys. Control. Fusion 41, A653 1999 banana regime plasmas. Recent zonal flow advances are summarized ...

On the basis of our Fokker-Planck code “FPI”, a new kernel for nonlocal electron transport in plasmas has been developed. Large scale simulations of plasma macroscopic characteristics have been made by using both this Fokker-Planck and a new Hydrodynamic code using the new kernel [1]. However, these simulations were made with the approximation of spherical Rosenbluth potentials. We have now add...

We show that the classical Rosenbluth method for sampling self-avoiding walks [1, 2] can be extended to a general algorithm for sampling many families of objects, including self-avoiding polygons. The implementation relies on an elementary move which is a generalisation of kinetic growth; rather than only appending edges to the endpoint, edges may be inserted at any vertex providing the resulti...

I discuss the possibility that two-boson radiative e ects are the reason for the fact that the rate of neutral-current divided by the rate of charged-current (NC/CC) events in the NuTeV experiment is one percent lower that the standard model prediction. Although two-boson e ects in the charged-current process are included in the Bardin radiative corrections (used by NuTeV) at the quark-parton l...

We report the results of a new Rosenbluth measurement of the proton electromagnetic form factors at Q2 values of 2.64, 3.20, and 4.10 GeV2. Cross sections were determined by detecting the recoiling proton, in contrast to previous measurements which detected the scattered electron. Cross sections were determined to 3%, with relative uncertainties below 1%. The ratio mu(p)G(E)/G(M) was determined...
