Objective: The study assessed the effect of a single session of repetitive peripheral magnetic stimulation (rpMS) combined with manual stretch on wrist and finger flexor muscle spasticity. Methods: Forty chronic patients after CNS lesion with a severe wrist and finger flexor spasticity with a Modified Ashworth Score (MAS, 0-5) of either 2, 3 or 4 participated and formed two groups. A single ses...

Objective To investigate the effects of repetitive peripheral magnetic stimulation (rPMS) on the vastus lateralis (VL) in the early stage after hip replacement surgery. Methods Twenty-two patients who underwent hip replacement after proximal femur fracture were included in this study. After hip surgery, the experimental group was applied with 15 sessions of 10 Hz rPMS over the VL 5 times per ...

Type I interferons (T1IFNs) are among the earliest cytokines produced during infections due to their direct regulation by innate immune signaling pathways. Reports have suggested that T1IFNs are produced during malaria infection, but little is known about the in vivo cellular origins of T1IFNs or their role in protection. We have found that in addition to plasmacytoid dendritic cells, splenic r...

Chromosome pairing in meiotic prophase is a prerequisite for the high fidelity of chromosome segregation that haploidizes the genome prior to gamete formation. In the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, as in most multicellular eukaryotes, homologous pairing at the cytological level reflects the contemporaneous search for homology at the molecular level, where DNA double-strand broken ends ...

The electric field induced by repetitive peripheral magnetic stimulation (RPMS) is able to activate muscles artificially due to the stimulation of deep intramuscular motor axons. RPMS applied to the muscle induces proprioceptive input to the central nervous system in different ways. Firstly, the indirect activation of mechanoreceptors and secondly, direct activation of afferent nerve fibers. Th...

Techset Com A practical condition monitoring method is proposed for the fault diagnosis of railway point machines (RPMs) by considering the difficulty of obtaining in-field failure data. Failures in RPMs have a significant effect on railway train operations, and it is very crucial to detect abnormal conditions in RPMs. However, it is generally difficult to obtain in-field failure data for a cla...

The disposal of industrial paper mill sludge waste is a big issue and has a great importance all over the world. A study was conducted to determine the chemical properties of recycled paper mill sludge (RPMS) and assess its possibilities for land application. RPMS samples were collected from six different paper mills in Malaysia and analyzed for physical and chemical properties, heavy metals, p...

Background: Joint contracture is a limitation in the passive or active range of motion (ROM) of a joint, where in addition to the mobility limiting factor the pain is also present. Repetitive pulsed Magnetic Stimulation (rPMS) appears to be an effective, non-invasive and safety solution for treating this condition. Therefore aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of rPMS in treating joint...

In a pilot study, affective components of pain were assessed using repetitive peripheral magnetic stimulation (rPMS) in patients with borderline personality disorder and healthy controls. Significant differences in pain thresholds and in affective components of pain between both groups were found. rPMS was well tolerated and suitable for assessing pain.

Abstract Safety and reliability are absolutely vital for sophisticated Railway Point Machines (RPMs). Hence, various kinds of sensors transducers deployed on RPMs as much possible to monitor their behaviour detection incipient faults anticipation using data-driven technology. This paper firstly analyses summarizes six RPMs’ characteristics then reviews the algorithms applied fault diagnosis in ...
